Should I do it? (car swap)
My boss sat in my car yesterday when we went for lunch and was blown away at the features and ride of the car.
Today he comes to me and says we should swap cars for a day, he wants to drive it and show his wife and kids.
He drives a 2001 or 2002 Ford Mustang Cobra. Would be a fun car to drive I suppose. (his wife drives an X5 so I know he's makin some good money, incase something happened to my car)
Yes or no?
(mods this may be slightly OT, feel free to move if you see fit)

Hey I 'd do it! I rode with a co-worker of mine yesterday in his Cobra. I really wanted to drive it, at least once. I wouldn't want to drive it all the time, but for a day, hell yeah!

Just keep in mind that generally, when you lend your car, you also lend your insurance policy.

I believe it is a 2001, I just don't remember off the top of my head, mind you, he doesn't control my pay, I am a contractor, but I suppose if a position opened up, and I applied for it, this would be brownie points

I think if the boss is comfortable enough to ask to trade cars for a day, I think they have a good enough relationship that if something does happen, he'll admit it, apologize, etc.

Don't listen to these guys, don't do it. Who cares what your going to do to his car. What matters is what is he going to do with your car. No one will ever driver my TL but me. I would tell him to find another sucker.

I wouldn't let him take it alone. I'd let him drive with me in the car though. Think about the type of person who buys a Mustang Cobra. They tend to use every bit of horsepower the engine offers. Just picture your nicely maintained car winding out first, chirping second, and slamming third gear with the kids getting dizzy in the back and throwing up.

Don't lend your TL to your boss just because he is your boss. If you trust him as a person or friend then you can make the decision. Of the hundreds of employees I have had over the years, the ones who got ahead were the hard working ones of good character. I've had employees say 'no' to me for good reasons and those are the employees I respect. I have said 'no' to some of my bosses and they have respected that.
This is interesting because my boss has an RSX as his car for driving to work. When he saw my car he fell in love with it right away. He asked if we could switch for a day. I said no. Not because I don't trust him or don't like his car. I said no because at the time I was not ready to lend out my TL. He respected that.
I sure hope I don't sound preachy here - certainly not trying to be. I just think it's sad that some people think they need to do things for people 'higher up' just because. I disagree. But that's just my Canadian business sense and my 2 cents.
Cheers!

he got the cobra because he wanted a convertible, i think he's having a midlife crisis...
he was orignally looking at the 350z convertible but didnt want to spend that much, so he got a used cobra...
he traded his chevy avalanche in for the cobra... so i can't say he's a speed demon

I dunno. That seems like a really weird request. I can't imagine any of my bosses asking to trade cars with me for a day. I would suggest you direct him to the nearest Acura dealership so he can go for a test drive just like everybody else.

I can't imagine a TL chirping in second. And I doubt he'd drive like that if his kids were in the car.

I will confirm it chirps in 2nd no problem... did it on a closed road the other day in an acceleration test.

my tl chirps 2nd not 3rd how is that possible? also regarding insurance you take the risk that if something happens your insurance coverage is liable. My girlfriend borrowed my old honda and smacked it up and went through my insurance only...
