Shifter area rattle/creaking noise

If its cold in your area, the plastic is going to contract, which will make it creak and/or rattle... You could heat it up with a hair dryer to see if this is infact the case, but in the end, some padding, i.e. foam might be in order. I believe in the warmer temps you may not have this problem, the passenger side of my center console rattled and it annoyed me, but after it recently got warmer, the noise is gone!

I believe the "audible gear shift trim" is standard. My 05 has done it with in the first week. Cold weather makes it worse (I have never met a car that didn't creak inside when cold). I'm going to see if the dealer can do something with it at the first service visit. Perhaps felt tape is on order. I feel pretty fortunate that is my only stray noise given all the rattle stories on the big board.

i stuck a thin piece of paper or plastic in between the two pieces of trim. someone else here did it too, it stopped the rattles. try that! ghetto i know, but at least you can't see it. make sure it's thick enough to pin the two so they dont vibrate.

I did the same..
Didn't even remove mine just moved it around as I was spraying at/under the trim. Use the supplied applicator "tube" that comes with the silicone spray. I recommend the 3M brand. You should be able to find it at Lowes/Home Depot etc. I picked a can up at The Container Store. Its pure and wont hurt any of the other surfaces etc. I re-aply every other month or so.
Works on other pesky noises as well
