Shift Knob Removal
Okay, so I was doing my first mod (shave driver key hole trick) and FedEx pulls up and hands me my woodgrain shift knob.
Um, I guess I'm still a noob with the search because I can't find anything on removing the factory knob.
I figured it would be the exact opposite of the intall (just loosen the tread on the bottom cover piece so it drops, then loosen the shift knob itself.
....well, either it's on there good, or there's another way it comes off (the bottom piece that is).
Any tips before I just say screw it and cut the old one off?

Sweet. It worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip!
A tip for anyone doing the same mod, the new one was hard as hell to install.
Well, the procedure is simple, it's just that you have to strain like hell to tighten it all the way.
Anyway, it looks a lot cleaner and matches the woodgrain color.

I'll do so tomorrow. Still need pics of my car but I probably want to clean it first. Ha.
Oh, and the shift knob is smaller in height than the original. So more of the shift rod actually shows. ....which looks good with the chrome base of the woodgrain knob.

Pictures!
Okay, here they are. Take into consideration, this was taken a few minutes ago (at night) with interior lights on. The woodgrain on the shift knob is slightly darker than the interior paneling and has a bit of a different pattern. During the day, you can hardly notice any difference in color. I've been told that it looks like it came with it......which was my goal.
