I have a 04 tl and my boyfriend sister has a 05 tl..and our shift knob light sometimes goes on and sometimes doesn't..Does that happen to any one else also? or is it just us? i understand that it goes on when u turn on your headlights..but sometimes the shiftknob light goes on and sometimes it doesnt when i turn on my head lights.. let me know if any one is having the same problem. thanks.

yea im talking about the P R N D..where u shift to different gears.. i bought my car used and the first couple of times i drove it i dont see the light on..but then one night when i was driving it was on..so now when i turn on my head lights i drive at night, i would look to see if the light is on..sometimes its on and sometimes its not..and i was just wondering if anyone else got the same problem as i do.. my boyfriend sister 05 TL does the same thing. It could be a normal defect..but im not sure.

 

the lights could be bad. Try replacing it. Or you could try tapping around the area with the headlight turn on. Same thing happened with my 92 Acura Vigor.

 

If the car is still under original warranty, Acura should take care of it for free. I've had them replace plenty of dashboard lights under warranty.

 

Just guessing here, but maybe the difference is is you have the headlight switch on "auto" or "on". Give it a try...

yea we dont have auto on headlight switch..but that would be cool..

 

I don't really see that as a problem. Doesn't the auto TLs have that blue light shining down onto the gear-stick? It's not that bright but it helps---a bit.
It's not hard to remember the gears either. It's the same as all other automatic cars.

 

maaaaaybe someone took the center console apart at one point aaaaand didnt plug it in? try looking at that too

 

Katsurina: I got an 04 6MT and I have the same issue with my Steering wheel left buttons. Sometimes off, sometimes ON!!! Very Strange, but you know what, I'll simply replace every single lights on my DASH and Steering Wheel.

I guess the LED are getting tired since 04.

 

I complain at acura about the bulbs burning out on the switches or cluster and they replace em but they keep blowing my tech said theres a never ending problem with that.....and its the bulbs not the equipment. I think its the way they install them.....ive order mini bulbs and installed them without me touching the bulb, only the small housing its mounted in and the 3 ive replaced... havent gone yet.

oooh thats cool that the 07-08 has the auto switch..i didnt know that..yea its not a big issue with the gears light...but its just so annoying that sometimes its on and sometimes its not..so i feel irritated..haha
