Sheepskin seat cover experience?

I am thinking of putting in some sheepskins. Any opinions, recommendations, etc?

These look like they might fit the bill:

No flame here! I understand that you should not cover seats that contain side airbags.

Exclamation As long as they work with side airbags and SRS...

Jetmaker's link to the covers indicates that they "will not interfere with seat side airbag deployment," so hopefully the seat covers are designed to work with side airbags.
The only other seat covers I've seen that are advertised as side-airbag friendly are the "Wet Okole"(sp?) covers.
Either way, the leather seats in my silver/ebony TL are comfortable year-round here on the lovely, temperate SoCal coast and hold me well enough in turns that I've never considered seat covers. If the car had vinyl seats, it might be a different story.... Besides, the stock seats look nice, so there is no temptation to cover them.
To each his own...

In the description, it says "Safe, will not interfere with seat side airbag deployment." I suppose you are taking their word for it though...

I personally don't care for the look of those... might be comfortable tho...

I am thinking of getting seat covers also. I wear a tool pouch that I know will eventually scratch a hole in the leather...

I am considering Wet Okole's. They are made locally here in Hawaii!

They are airbag tested by the way.

The seats are perforated for airflow and comfort. I would think that putting a big patch of fur on them will make them very hot and uncomfortable...

These covers don't cover the side bolsters so side air bag should not be a problem. The reason I am looking into them is because my seats give me a back ache as covered in this thread here

I was thinking some seat covers might provide more cushion. But yeah, I don't want to spend $380 on them and then find out that they're too hot, etc.

Tried all manner of lumbar adjustments... no help really. Also, I have never had back problems in my life before. One of the issues for me is the hardness of the seats... it won't let my back sink into it so I just kind of ride on top and my weight doesn't get distributed. That concept led me to the seat cover idea.

If you like sheepskin, go for it. Personally, if I were to go with any seatcover at all, it would be one of the custom ones from these guys: www.coverking.com

Go for it. Some folks think sheepskins are hideous, but after owning them I think they are a nice addition. The trick is making them look good. When most people think seat covers, they think full coverage cheap crap and that throws them off. The vests leave some leather portions exposed which can look very good with the right color combo. Personally I like the vests that don't cover the whole seat bottom. I don't really like the headrest cover for the TL, even though it looks comfy. Just be sure to get real sheepskins not the fake stuff.

The perforated leather does nothing for comfort so covering the holes has no effect. These skins are cool in the summer and warm in the winter and more comfortable than the TL seat cushions. The seat heaters still work fine but it will take longer to get the full heat but that doesn't matter because in cold climates sheepskins covered seats are comfy as soon as you get in.

I use sheepskin pelts from Ikea on my seat bottoms only. On an Ebony interior this looks pretty good. The skins are cheap enough to throw away if they start to look ratty. If you are going this route look for the shortest nap pelts as they hold up better. Also look for a one piece skin. Some are sewn together to make a pelt then lined with cotton. The lined ones are more slippery than the one piece pelt.
