She is finally mine!!!!
Congrats, I could not stand having a car payment. I purchase all my cars in cash. I figure if I have to make a payment that means I can't afford it lol
That said I want a GTR so bad maybe I could put up with some payments haha

I'm about 8 months behind you OP. Got my 04 in September of 07 and will be done in September of this year.
First thing I'm doing in October of 07 is replacing my clutch master cylinder and getting new floor mats. I figure that will run me about the same price as my usual monthly payments.

LOL...I want to know what HE thought OP was.
I could pay mine off, but need to keep a monthly payment to show stability for a while. I can't wait to be done too. Haven't been without car payment since 02.

I've got 69 more payments.
But will most likely cut the term in ~half since I'm doubling on the principal whenever possible.
My TL-S payment is still less than what it was on my '09 Fit (48 Months).

My friend has offered me his CL65 AMG Mercedes for $28K though and that's extremely tempting but it would literally require me putting $500 a month away for repairs, not kidding.

When you want luxury and sound, TL...when you want to crap your pants and snap your neck, your GN. You have it all already...no sense in spending the car payment you just said you'd avoid to say you have an AMG.
Technically, at this point, your GN is a hand built motor too, right?!?! So the AMG loses the edge AND costs you 30K.

I like the AMG for the opposite reasons I like the GN. One is raw and brutal with no electronics and you have to be on top of your game when driving it. The other is still quicker than 99.9% of the cars on the road but with total luxury and isolation from the outside world. Sometimes I like the rawness, sometimes I like the luxury, I'm so indecisive. I mentioned buying the AMG once before to the GF and nearly got stabbed so I'm sure she will keep me from impulse buying.

She'll probably suggest that every time you get the urge to pull the trigger, you go ahead and buy her a Michael Kors watch or purse or something...tha'tll cure you.
I'm just being a hater, Matt...I would LOVE one of those cars. I drove a C240 that a coworker had once and was really amazed at how solid the car. A LITTLE disconnected...but solid.
I know about the handbuilt...was being funny about your GN having a hand built motor at this point too.

OP....seems like we started off almost together LOL....
May 2007 is when I got my car....05 TL with 62K miles....sits at 160K right now....out the door for 23K....
Paid her off in Nov 2009 (took a 36 month loan as compared to 60)....payments were 650 something....i used to pay $1000 every month....hence paid it off in 2 years as compared to 3....
Since then, I have paid an extra grand (from the car payment) to my student loans...got them paid off....
I agree with Ravi, put that money aside....it will help you.....but to modify what Ravi said, if you have a loan where you are paying interest, I would suggest putting the car payment towards that loan (home/student/credit card/etc)....this way you will pay that loan off quicker and pay less interest....

I remember the feeling of paying off the mustang...Then a week later I sold it LOL...
Now I am sitting on 3 years left on the TL-S...Walked out the door with it for $22K...I hate having car payments...

To the op, congrats. Im sure it will be nice to not have a car payment anymore. IMO i wouldn't go crazy with mods. But heck live and learn, i learned that spending over 7k on mods was not worth it.
I feel bad for you guys that bought your 04 tl's in 07 and paid 23k. Bought mine in march 08 with 68k for 13k from a private seller. Sometimes I don't understand why you guys overpay to the stealerships.

sure, for an AT. those are a dime a dozen so the market price will reflect that. In my area, there was only one 6MT for sale at the time. I negotiated what I thought was fair based on other sales up the eastern seaboard.
I know in Hampton Roads you can get top dollar for 04 - 08 TL's because the dealerships cant keep them in stock...They bring a better resale there then most places in the country...Saw one the other day selling a 2008 TL Type-S for $32K...Most TL's have a price around $15K still and TL Type-S's still go for high 20's...

Thinking about an awd 6 speed. But im not gonna get rid of this baby. I'm gonna get her a brand new paint job and couple of other minor things and she will be a weekend car. With the extra money, i will be puting some away and some of it is going towards paying off my girls 05 TL.

My baby rite is at the acura dealer getting a new clutch and flywheel put in. As a loaner , they gave me a 2012 TL. It is very nice by the way. I like how they redesigned the front end and rear end.
Just made my last payment on my '05 6mt last month. Now have 104,000 miles. No more care payment, but now I need to look at having the timing belt done.
I figure my son is 13 1/2 and will be getting his permit at 15. Maybe we hold the car for him and when that time comes, I get a new(er) car.
