Service past due

My A service is past due at oil life 0%. It just showed up before when I got home. I'm bringing my TL in tomorrow for oil change. Should I be ok?
The dealer is 25 miles away.
I made this appointment 3 weeks ago. All other dealers were 4 weeks. I think they are booked because of the tranny recall.

Should be OK, brought my TL for B service with 100 miles past due and dealer said it's OK for up to 200 miles past due. After that.......

3-4 weeks for oil change? I just make sure I come in first in the morning and they take my car first and 20 minutes later I am done. No appointments necessary.

Should be OK... drive there...

It's just busy 'cause this X'mas New Year stuff... most of recalls should be done already... IMO, they're busy for sure... as for "recall"...it's bluffing...

That's what most of the dealers I called said. They told me that it's backed up due to the tranny recall.
Any dealers in the NYC, NJ area that you can just show up first thing in the morning for an oil change?

tranny...

So that means the early 04s had to get the oil jet. And probably means that unless there is a design change on the 05s, they install the oil jet at the factory. That would make sense as to why the later 04s and 05s are not recalled.

that's the reason I have stayed away from the brand untill they get it right...

No worries. The special oil Honda uses will let you go another 12k miles or 6 months, witchever comes first.

I don't think Honda oil is THAT special. I wouldn't go 12,000 miles on synoil, and Honda oil is dino based.

Yes.

Back to the topic.

I've gone around 200 miles past due. It was fine. MID is just an estimate and although I don't recommend it, I had no choice. The dealer did not say a word.

I experienced the exact same thing, 6mtV6. Life went to 0% just as I got home & my appointment at the dealer was the next morning. So, I went about 12 miles over. I doubt it's a problem...

I wouldn't worry about it. Your engine is not going to suddenly sieze or anything. It's not like you're going to drive the car for 50,000 miles without changine oil. (Yes, I've seen people do that).

The only thing I would do, if you're worried, is to at least make sure you aren't low on oil.

Dealer shouldn't give you problems. If they do, take out your owners manual, and point out the manual says when the oil should be changed, not when it must be changed. These two words have vastly different legal ramafications. I know, because I deal with international standards bodies, and deal with these types of things all the time.

In fact, I believe the entire maintenence schedule is prefixed with a sentence that says you should follow one of the two schedules, so that in itself is declaring that the scheduled maintence is optional. So they can't void your warranty due to neglect or anything, because you are following what the manufacturer states, because they did not mandate any maintenence.

But I'm not saying this to justify never giving your car proper maintenence. I'm just saying that the dealer can't void your warranty if you miss a scheduled maintenence.

shit, searching sucks... took me 30 minutes to find this thread. Anyway, my oil life says <5% service A due NOW! but after reading this thread, I should be safe to go to the dealer tomorrow without the engine having a heart attack.

You'll be fine. It's a good reason to run synthetic and change it by the MID. If you do this, you have a larger safety margin. If the MID goes to 0% and you're out of town or whatever you can take it in at your leisure. If you go 1,000 over, no big deal.

Obviously you don't want to make it a habit of going over on dino oil because over time you will start to get varnish and then sludge. Honda does like to push the limits. It's calibrated for dino and wtih 99% freeway driving it takes me to 10,000 miles. I change it at half that. In the winter with my new job which consists of 2 miles each way to work it has me changing at 3,500.
