Service Light Indicator

Hello guys,

I bought my TL on 1/2/07 and it currently has 440 miles on it. About 10 days ago I got the "Tighten Fuel Cap" msg on the MID and that went away after about 2 days of driving but the service light indicator went on and it has been on for about a week now. I called the service department at the dealership where I bought my TL and the lady there told me since it's a brand new car I shouldn't worry about the service light indicator being on and that is normal on new cars. Is this correct? Should I just take my car over there and have them look at it?

That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Take it in to find out why the light is on. I am sure it is nothing too serious, but it should be checked out.

well i clicked it many times and the problem didnt go away. i went to the dealership on saturday and he had a technician turn the "service light indicator" off or the infamous "check engine" light. well i went out of town on saturday and after driving about 80 miles the tighten the fuel cap sign went on AGAIN and i didn't even fuel the car then!!!! so on the way back to my city (after about another 80 miles) the tighten the fuel cap sign went off and CHECK ENGINE light went on again!!!!! so i called the service department this morning and scheduled an appointment to come in after the shop closes, but service dept is still open. so tonight i get there at 6:50 and they already closed the shop 10 minutes early so i was supposed to leave the car there to find out from service advisor that I cannot get a loaner car because I am under 25!!!!! so i had to drive back home (25 miles each way for me!!!!) and i will have to call service manager tomorrow and make a big deal out of this and have him bring a loaner car to my work and ill have one of my co-workers that are 25+ sign off the paperwork.

I'm really frustrated right now!

Tell them to give you a new gas cap and that should solve the problem where it could had a bad seal ring around your current gas cap.

Thumbs down

What an idiotic lady to tell you that it is a new car and that it is normal for any indicator light to be on! She should be reported for giving out such false information. Dumb ass!

I dont know about your State - but here in CT i get a loaner car evertime without even being asked about age, and they know I'm 24, they have a copy of my License on file. I would ask why the dealer has no problem taking $30+ from a 21 yr old, but has a problem giving them a loaner car. That is part of the $30k that you paid for, a loaner is pretty standard for warranty work from all dealers, i mean u paid for the ability to have a loaner for this type of thing in the price of the Acura, they should NOT be deneying you that just cuz ur 21....
