Service cost estimates

I am taking my car in for service tommorow, and checking the heat plate rattle issue. When should I expect them to give me a quote for the service and everything? Upon dropping it off? Should they call me before the service is done? I Just dont want them to take care of and say "here is the bill, $300" !!!

So how do you go about getting service and handling the communication and estimate process?

Ask them when you drop the car off. Don't expect them to offer the price without you asking. Also specify that they are to call you regarding any other issues that they may find prior to beggining any work.

Isn't your car under warranty that they would take care of that? For regular maint. they should give you a quote whne you drop it off (e.g. oil change, etc)

If you are taking in only for the heat plate rattle issue then it should be covered under warranty...and should be free

If not then you would need to tell us what type of other service are you takin it in for....for us to help you out...
