Seat split/tear help

Recently my passenger seat bottom had a split in the leather one day. Of course I was upset and tried to fix it myself with a 3M Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit. I ended up cleaning it before using the kit and made it worse and bigger. For now, the rip is sealed so it won't get worse. However, I want to know if anyone else had this issue and what they did to fix it? Did you take to a shop to fix it, if so how much? Did you buy a cover, or replacement? etc. I am a noob when it comes to this stuff and I want to fix it. Also what do y'all recommend for leather conditioner, I just picked up Griot's Garage Leather 3-in-1 Spray. I haven't used it yet but want to know of any recommendations for the seats protection and longevity. Thanks for your thoughts and advice in advance. ( The pictures definitely make it look worse too)

not much you can do really, and upholstery shop can replace that section of leather or try to re patch it a little better.

check with your local upholstery shop, the whole bottom could be fix for under $250 for part and labor.

If you want a cheaper route, I just did my own diy patch to my drivers seat for about $42.

I just ordered a sample perforated vinyl ring, found the right color vinyl for my camel interior, cut it to size, put some double-sided Aleene's fabric tape on the back and stuck it to my seat.

The color is really close but it won't be perfect, and the perforation pattern is a little wider on the patch than on the actual leather, but to me it's barely noticeable. I could have done a better job cutting the vinyl to make it look cleaner, but it works for me.

I had a section repaired recently as well, but If I could go back I would have just recovered the whole interior. A good option is a solid fitting leather cover kit like https://www.clazzio.com/ . I just can't justify repairing seat by seat for 250$ anymore. You fix, few months another tear forms like connect the dots from hell.

This was my thought as well. Patch it for now, then get the whole interior replaced at some point. You'll never get the color to match the other seats, even going with OEM. I haven't gotten the set yet so I can't speak to fit, but these guys do interior packages, specifically for the TL, that you can get stock or customize.

once i get my tax return, i'm gonna get replacement leather for the driver and pax bottom sections from here: us auto seat cover
$166 per seat and i'm gonna do the install myself. this is the least expensive option i've found. what i really want is a jdm dc5 integra type r recaro seat in black, but that's way too mucho dinero. an s2000 seat would be awesome as well, but also more than i want to spend at the moment. maybe some day tho...

I got mine from there. Their leather doesn't match color wise 100% but I'm pretty sure after some time they will match alot better. They are a 1000% upgrade for the money.

Does anyone have a source for the gray leather that is very close to the original color? My preference is to remove the seat cushions and have my local upholstery guy replace the gray section and leave the black as it is. The black will remain a solid match to my seat backs, which are in ok shape for now.
These seem solid and fairly priced, but don't solve the rear seat tears.

www.leatherseats.com

I did the entire interior using their 100% full leather kit, custom kit. It took 3 days to do the interior. Just very time consuming. End results are just incredible!

Bravo. Your car didn't look that good when it left the factory. The center console metallic garnish looks terrific as does the shift knob lettering. Plus an uncracked dash unicorn and the seldom-seen functional console accordion rollup. I bet your HFL works as well. Your carpets are vacuumed the way a MLB field is mown. Clearly you are not taking your OCD meds.

Thank you for your leatherseats.com recommendation. Unfortunately they don't have a Type S offering.

I really appreciate the kind and awesome words! YES! That is my OCD at work. (Really is). My TL is a 2004 in pristine condition and very well taken care of. Everything works (except for the navigation clock til Acura releases an updated Disk). I'm not sure why leatherseats.com won't release a type-s kit... it's not the best move on their end to be honest with you. I really feel for you guys with the type-s. Leatherseats.com would be the best option if they made a kit for the type-s.

daaang @04WDP, looks amazing. closest thing to perfect i've seen. as far as the op, depends on your goals and/or how long you wanna keep it for. maybe a patch or cover for now, or get the seats redone by an upholstery place, or order from a website that makes seats specifically for the 3g. consider your budget and desired outcome. i personally would either patch or get a cover for now and put away for custom seats from erpm or something.

There are people on this forum that would pay @04WDPSeDaN $20 to whack off to his car in person. Most are in the state of New Jersey.
