Sealer for clearing/black headlights

I was looking around my house to see what I have to glue the headlight housing back together. I found "leak stopper" for a caulking gun, rubberized roof patch with 10 year warranty. It says ideal for chimneys, roof vents, skylights, vent pipes. Ideal for wet and dry conditions, stops roof leaks instantly, flexes to prevent cracking, and outlasts other repairs.
I know this is for a house, but do you think it would work on headlight housings? It is also black in color.

Is this too flexable? Ive seen others using permatex gasket maker but I have not seen that around anywhere except online.

If done correctly and carefully, you can just reseal the headlight with the original sealant by heating it again. i did this on multiple RSX's and Tl's and have yet to have a leak!

Is there any stuff like the OEM sealent that I could get? I dont think I would want to try that, its just to risky.
Did you just put the 2 pieces back together and put it in the oven for 10 minutes or so?

i use Permatex black silicon sealant/adhesive. i buy it at autozone for apporx. $5 and one tube will do about 2 sets of lights. i have used them on three different instances and never had a leak.

in the past i have done what blktl has mentioned, but i did have a leak on a set for an 03 TL type-s. my opinion, it cost $6 for piece of mind knowing the oem sealant will do its job, but just in case, the permatex picks up the slack.

ding069 did you heat up the lights after applying the permatex, then push them together more?

used regular gasket sealer. didnt really need to though, as you can just reseal the lights with the factory stuff ifyou dont scrape any off.

i heat them up before and after. with a heat gun before and then about 25-30 min after to let the glue do its magic. works like a charm.

preatty much the same stuff PPLAPW posted.

I have to go find this stuff now, since 4 stores near me didnt carry it. Wont the vapors cause a fire if I were to put this stuff in my electric oven?

PPLAPW: You never answered my PM's about what kind of fog lights you are using, what kind are they?

I used an electric oven and had no problems. I did the headlights two separate times.

^^ Yea, I guess I can turn the oven on, let it heat up, then off before they go in for the final time.

I meant that I have opened up my headlights two separate times (once to clear, realized I didnt like how cleared headlights looked) and a few months later to black them out. I didnt have any problems with an electric oven.

In that thread post #136...

They are 7000K Nokya Arctic White, 9006, 100 Watt. Cost me $35 at a local import shop near my house.

The turn signals are just some generic Japanese bulbs. The packaging is all in Japanese so I don't know what to tell you. I just told the guy I want bluish-white turn signal bulbs model number 7443. I also herd 7440 works....

Hope that helps
As soon as I get the chance I will post night time pics as well as day time...

Let me know if more questions arise...

I went to Kar Parts near my house, and the guy said not to use the permatex but instead a "3m window weld", he said they use it to hold windows in, and it was $15 for a caulk tube.

"A rapid curing adhesive/sealant intended for all flush mounted and bonded windsheild or backlite replacements. Black odorless product. Easily applied. Cures quickly. Provides the necessary strength for automotive glass replacement."

Here is the link: http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_windowweld.#

What do you guys think?
