Scratch in my seat from the dealer

So I took my car in for warranty work and when I get it back there is a scratch on the passenger side seat. They said they will repair it but I am not sure how. Here is the picture to see the damage. Do you think this can be repaired? I have to take it back when they get in another part that they damaged when making a repair.

If they cannot get it to look like it was before the scratched it is it wrong of me to demand a new seat cover?

Mike

id fight it if i was you. im sending out my letter to corporate today because of what they've done to my car and how they've treated me because of it

i wouldn't recommend anyone to go to the service department @ Prestige Acura of Santa Rosa (yes i know kaleb from Prestiage is a vendor )

good luck to you though (: i bet other dealers are much better than the one here. somebody had their aspec rim curb rashed by their dealer recently and they repaired it right away.

The last time something like this happened they scratched the engine cover and told me I need to lower my expectations. I put up a fight and they replaced the engine cover. I guess most people that buy a new car just treat it like crap but I am not one of them. I mean if I was a tech and I saw that the person takes care of the car I would do the same. I mean I even put a sign in my car for them to not wash it. I am very meticulous about my cars and I like to keep them like new.

Mike, give them the opportunity to fix it-see how it goes. Maybe they'll pleasantly surprise you this time.

I am going to let them try to fix it but I am just not sure how good they will be able to get it.

Just be sure to inspect it with your Service Writer before leaving the dealership and let them fix it to your satisfaction.

They should replace it with a new cover and will not be noticeable except for the difference with the aged part.
I had a dealer destroy 2 black leather covers on our RX7 Turbo that we purchased new, one when the mechanic got into the seat with a tool in his back pocket, and the other had buttons exposed on the rear pockets and when he slide down the side bolster it created a rub mark 6" long. They replaced them no problems. The dealer also destroyed 2 front spoilers and needed to make good on them. Just the parts for the above 4 items were over $2000, but they did an excellent job, and hope you have the same luck.

The dealer will more than likely call in a mobile upholsterer and have them take a look at it. More than likely it'll just be a clear filler applied to make it disappear. Replacing the whole seat bottom over a small mark like that will be hard to justify for the dealer's insurance, however they'll need to return it to the condition it was in before it came in. Let them try to repair it first and see how it looks. If it's not good enough for your expectations, demand that they replace the seatbottom!

Some dealers place plastic covers over the driver’s seat when servicing the car more for dirt/grease then anything else but I always wondered why they don't make it mandatory to use a thicker material cover to prevent any type of damage. Wonder what they do over at BMW or Mercedes?
