Not to be driven, for show only! Buy one put it in your garage and occasionally roll up the door for onlookers. Now that's prestige!

I've thought about this poll question over the last couple of days...the question I would ask the guys like Graf, Jspace and others...if the car is "just and average car from and average brand" why is the car so desireable and why do most of us spend precious time and cash modding them for performance and looks? Sure...there are Civic drivers out there that mod their cars, but I would say there is probably a higher percentage of TL owners doing it than Civic owners. I think the 3G TL is one of the best looking cars on the road of the last decade. If not, why have so many manufacturers done knock offs? I know that my TL is the best car I've ever owned. I don't need to put a number on it...

Around the 3g era, I would give them a 4. right now, with all the fails and uncovered reliability problems, I would give them a 2.5

The TL was sold in millions.
not so much desirable, but plentiful.
and civic guise mod much much more than the TL guise as there is an aftermarket support for Civics.

I bought the TL because I needed something that would last 10 plus years.
Honda reliability with a more luxury feel to it.

sure, its more prestigious than a civic or any other economy car, but I'm not gonna lie to myself and say its a top tier car, because its not.

It is how ever "prestigious" you want it to be.

Yes, it was plentiful, and most are still on the road too, pretty good for a 6-10 year old car. I agree, it's not up there with Bentley, Aston etc., but it is ahead of Honda, Nissan, Toyota, and way ahead of Ford, Chevy, and Chrysler. All I'm saying, somewhere in the middle.

What I said about modding Civics is, I think more TL owners mod their cars than Civic owners, percentage wise, cuz there are a shit ton more Civics on the road than TLs.

No body was saying acura was top tier. We were just saying it has more prestige than lower end mass market brands and give more luxury. That's all we're basically saying.

Definitely agree. I mean personally I don't think of prestige when I think of Acura. That doesn't mean Acura's aren't good cars. I think they're great car. But like I said, prestige and Acura don't seem to fit together.

Doors flew over the swamp in Greenland and certain audio frequencies make wheels manufactured by Suzuki spin at a rotational velocity of 138.39 Mm/ns. The condensation of cactus plants when sitting on top of coffee mugs reaches a solid state that represents the consistency of Vitamin C when frozen to any prime number of the absolute temperature scale. I can't believe that lamp shades fed into a printer result in counterfeit Santa Claus hats shaped like bookmarks. But this only occurs when grass grows on a whale's back. The effect can be undone with a candle made out of vinyl through Lake Michigan's sewage system. It's quite a smelly way to relax after the pillows on your toilet brush your teeth, especially when the humidity matches hacky sack skateboards. So now you resort to childish insults? Look if you can't have a mature well mannered coversation I would suggest you get off of the internet and stay off. Ues I started this thread to hear people's views on what they think of acura as a brand in terms of prestige, not to argue with anybody, and from the way you talk I can tell you are some ignorant hoodrat that has nothing better to do. Do yourself and everybody else here a favor and get a life please.

Again you are showing symptoms of an immature and conceited character thinks the only truth is whatever you say as opposed to facts. I am about done with you at this point so I will no longer be going back and forth with you.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense.

I hadn't considered that perspective!!! A butler nervously screamed at an anus full of potato biscuits. This prompted me to kick the jumping balloon and it scared the insane robot gardener into the chimney full of fairy poop. A waste basket named Carpet then tried fingering a turtle causing immeasurable squirming by children in top hats. Notebooks rose from the dead to urinate above the pizza shop in Britney Spear's vagina. This brings new meaning to the word prestige! Thank you for opening my hair follicles with your coat pocket.

Consider this:

you can get the same tech on an accord than you can on TL...

LED lamps, lane departure, etc

Depends... prestige as in 'reputation of having/offering favorable attributes'-- then, sure, Acura is prestigious enough. But if you are referring to high status, wealth, and glamour-- then not so much. Acura, IMO, used to be a luxury brand. Anymore it seems that many manufacturers are catching up-- not that Acura is lagging, it just that the market has demanded these niceties that our TL's have always had. And I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. But when a base Denali is as spendy, even much more so than a base MDX, I think we can accept that acura is not trying to be 'prestigious'. It is certainly the better choice, IMO. As for the 3G TL, I think a better adjective(s) would be fabled, celebrated, venerable, dare I say legendary? IT has withstood the test of time in both looks and reliability (I say while mine is getting a new transmission...lol), and people react to it-- in that regard it is not just an average car.

My opine (list excludes Exotics such as Lamborghini and Bentley etc..)

1 Audi
2 Mercedes
3 BMW
4 Lexus
5 Acura

Acura thus gets a 3 according to the 1~5 rating scale

To add, my cousin just bought a 2013 Porsche Panerama 4 and he was considering an Audi R8 , those were his top two choices, so Im listing Audi as #1 on my Prestige list since I consider Porsche to be in the exotics class

And here I though my taddlebundation was the only one with an opine. Glad to see I'm not alone! Questioning plastic rooftops while riding a pink elephant never ends well though. The fabric of gift certificates to hairpiece conventions is probably stronger than hydrogen atoms in lava. Acura has doodled the last of the iddly diddly ostrich show, and I absolutely LOVE being naked on ferris wheels during a green month. But you can't forget about the leather LED lamps that certainly factor into a prestige conversation such as this one. I love my TL.

Edit: Whoops! Totally forgot to mention that sirs and champions with sunglasses disprove any airflow characteristics attributed to erotic thoughts since mammalian clouds don't ever drink milk.

Prestige is a broad term because it can be experienced from different points of view: owners of the brand and non-owners of the brand.

For car owners, prestige might mean you can afford a broad range of premium priced cars but you're choosing ?? for being your ride for your personal reasons. You might value reliability over ultimate performance even though you can afford a performance model. As a car owner, prestige might mean the type of service you're expecting when bringing your car in for service: loaner, wash, clean lounge with premium coffee and such. A prestigious brand will probably always have a model that you would need to 'stretch' financially to buy. I would say Acura will increase its prestige when the new NSX comes out because that will be a 70k+ car.

For non-owners, prestige means what you would aspire to own if you won the lottery or came into a windfall of money possibly. My Father always aspired to own a Mercedes so that would be a prestigious brand for him. For me, it would be a Porsche.

For both owners and non-owners, prestige might be felt by the quality of TV or print ads. I agree that Audi is a prestigious brand- I love their commercials! That one with the highschool kid going to the prom and getting punchout is a classic. The tow truck driver trying to hook a Quatro is another good one.

One thing I do know is I would never consider a brand that makes a minivan a prestigious brand. That's one reason I would rank Chrysler as less prestigious than Lexus or even Acura.

this thread is too funny.

but uhm. oh yea. prestige. Just cus Acura is "more prestigious" than say a honda doesn't make it prestigious...at all. Honda and prestige just don't go together.its a 0.probablyless...anyways, not hard to beat...

It's a damn nice car but non-prestigious cars can be nice too..i.e. our Acuras.

There's just no head turning factor for the Acura, simply put.. I think you kinda need that to be considered prestigious. (and this may differ depending on where your from)

Now if you compare these sales numbers with mass market auto brands and luxury brands you will see it is more comparable to that of luxury brands. Hope that helps you.
I own one of 2000 cars built with less than 1000 still registered. I don't think many would consider it a car with prestige. I'm going to Vegas this weekend to potentially pick up one of 547 ever made. Still not considered a prestigious car.

With Acura people either have no idea what it is or you have the fanbois that assign them ridiculous values that they're not worthy of. It's a glorified Accord. I think of it as a reliable car, an Accord with the options I wanted not offered on the Honda version.

If you put a wet cat in a bag after feeding it hot dogs and throw it off a bridge, you're bound to catch a Velcro button with your ears. Then they'll turn red and you end up with a Panamera in your garage and a marriage license to your domestic partner in your tree house.

Well when you talk about prestige, it all depends on the degree of prestige you are talking about. I think when people think of prestigious brands they think of brands like MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche etc because they are on top of the heap in brand prestige when compared to other lower end car brands then you could say acura isn't all that prestigious in comparison, but when you compare acura to. Rands like Honda, Nissan , and Hyundai you can say acura has an edge over those brands when it comes to prestigious image. I do agree however that acura isn't as prestigious as it used to be, but I still love their cars.

Quick Reply: On a scale from 1-5, what would you rate Acura's prestige level?
