Rubbing noise while braking

Has anyone had an annoying rubbing sound that comes from the rear driver side wheel while braking? The sound can be heard from 15MPH down to about 5MPH then it goes away. I have an '04 TL with 15K miles. As it will be warranty work, I'm not too worried but want to ensure that it's fixed appropriately the first time. Thanks for your help.

I have not, but you could have a partially stuck caliper, glazed pad, damaged rotor surface, etc. Unusual that it is in the rear, which is lightly loaded from a brake perspective. Let us know the dealer's diagnosis.

RR.

A potential cause may be a pebble trapped at the leading edge of the caliper. It is easy to take a look thru the wheel spokes. Otherwise, a few panic stops may clean off whatever is on the pads or rotors. It does not hurt to cycle the ABS every now and again, just do it in a safe manner.

The dealer diagnosed it as a warped rotor. They ordered the new rotor and machined the existing one a bit so I could drive the car until the part comes in. If I'm not mistaken, I have read complaints about the rotors in other posts. As this one is the rear, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Relax Dog. Give the dealer a chance to help you. Its sounds like they are taking care of you.
