Rrear window tints
Rrear window tints
for those of you who have rear windows tinted, you know how there's the small glass at the very back next to the C pillars that does not get tinted?
looks like the plastic is in the way and blocks access during tinting, so the tint is cut around the plastic instead of placed in front of it...and a dark tint looks like there's this vertical-ish section missing....
if you have tints, you know what i'm talking about. i've seen some people with this, but not all. is this normal or just poor workmanship?

If a shop tells you they can't tint that small strip go to another shop. It's not hard or time consuming it just means the shop is too lazy or not good enough to do the job right. A good quality tinter will always get tint behind that strip.
what is with ppl saying "tints"
sorry that would bothers me
I have my windows tinted and they didnt take that trim piece out just butted up next to it. if you want it done fully i suggest you take it out for them. ive seen it done fully so it is possible

^^^ the piece does not need to be removed to get tint behind it. And besides I think that rubber gasket is part of the window seal and I dont think it can come out without removing that rear quarter window. Like I said a quality window tinter can do the job right. If one shop will not do it, then find another shop that will.
here is how that window should look! :-)

When I first got my car, I took it to my regular guy who is the best around. Never even realized the issue may arise, and he didn't do behind the gasket. I just lived with it for a couple years and it really started to bother me because it looked like shit. Called him back up and he said it's impossible to get it clean in there and do it right without removing the glass. I then went to three other places who wouldn't touch it either. One guy said it looked fine the way it was and even said he wouldn't do any type of tinting for me because I "must be impossible to please". Lol, wut? That guy was pretty weird.
I pretty much exhausted all the places in my area, then when I was visiting relatives a couple months later, I decided to flip through the yellow pages for tint shops. First place I called, the owner wasn't sure what I meant, so he asked his tint guy, who laughed and said, " yeah, not a big deal, I can do that". They charged me like $90 to remove the old tint and redo them, but I didn't care at that point. Came out perfect and two years later, no problems.
Bottom line, most tinters must be pretty lazy. Keep hunting till you find one who isn't.

Did they match the new tint to the existing tint?
I was going to do it somewhere else after, but the dealer said they world so it. I see the tint says it's Acura temperalite... 3rd party tinting places use other, possibly better tint, i don't want it to look different

yeah i started to realize that temperlite was on the glass. i need to find out what brand of tint he used...to make sure it matches, what a pain...should have just taken it to another 3rd party place with good reviews
maybe it's kind of anal to need the tint behind that gasket, but come on.....how does anyone who does tinting....who is supposed to be anal and meticulous by trade, just look at that and think....meh.....pooooooor work, what about some pride in one's craft?
