hi all, I have a question
If my car is not drive for 3 hours. when I start the car, the rpm gauge in my 2007 TL start higher then 1 then it slowly go down. Is it because of my car rpm too high or it the same as you guys' car too.

happens to me whenever the i do a cold start..let the car warm up a bit and the rpm will drop down to less than a grand (1000rpm)..watch the tachometer as you warm up the car, you'll notice that the rpm will gradually decrease.

Its something they do to have the car warm up faster, it works because the TL warms up so quick I can defrost a sheet of ice on a cold winter morning in 5minutes in the TL, lol.

Happens on all cars, RPMs drop as the engine warms up

Remember the olden days (pre mid 1980's) when cars were carbureted and you would have to hit the gas a couple of times to knock off the choke? Same principle. (Of course looking at the ages on this thread - maybe you wouldn't ) It enrichens the A/F mixture until the engine is up to temp.

yea, how many cars have you owned before? cuz it does it to every single car. its called a cold idle, cuz your car motor isn't warmed up. thats why a lot of people tell you to let it sit for a min or 2 before you drive.

now say, you drove to the store, shut off your engine for 2 mins...then came back out and started your car. the motor will still be warm, so it won't cold idle
