thinking about either painting my roof black or putting black vinyl on it suggestions?

I'd do vinyl, just in case you want to return the car to stock later.

 

May I suggest that if you are of the mind to either sell or trade the car down the road a bit, give serious consideration about this. If not or if you don't concern yourself with such matters, have at it.

 

I'd stick with vinyl just cause it can come off. This way if you sell the car you can take it off without having to explain to a non car enthusiast why the roof was painted black while the cars sliver

Is you windshield tinted?

 

i would def go with vinyl, to me it is non-perm and if you get some good vinyl it actually looks way better than paint IMHO

 

Vinyl is the way to go. This way if you change your mind, or want to resell, you can just remove it...thats what I did on my ASM

 

Why is everybody painting their roofs black nowadays? I dont see what the big deal is with having a black roof? Almost trying too hard to make it look like the roof is CF...

 

^ I'm with ya. I'm having a hard time understanding this as well. I've seen several examples. I've even tried to like it (lol). It interrupts the flow of the curves for me. I don't know. I'm kinda putting this mod up there with the window visors. It looks ok on some; out of place on others.

But, if you insist, then I'm with the majority here. You need to make it reversible, as this mod has the tendency to lower the resale of the vehicle and limits your market base when it comes time to sell.

 

black vinyl definitely looks good on silver and WDP but not really the darker cars

i personally think it aesthetically welds together the the whole top of the car with windshield and windows and everything, especially if youve got a tint

i talked to the body shop they said dont do vinyl cuz it dries out and taking it off will damage the paint but yea i love the idea cuz my windsheild is tinted and i dont plan on selling the car ever i love this car

 

they r charging me 220 to paint it

The body shop is flogging you a sales pitch ...
It doesn't dry out .. I have had mine on 2 years now and there is no paint damage. I have removed lots of vinyl overlays.

 

+1 im thinking to do this too, make it look like the style of the M3. But i would never buy one.(too expensive for the little power)

 

I painted my roof gloss black, I love it. Goes with my whole scheme I got goin on. I also put limo tint on the back window.

that M3 is amazing, and it has a carbon fiber roof... its not painted.. most people get the idea of painting their roof black from a car with a carbon fiber roof, or an all glass roof... like i said before, trying too hard but everyone is entitled to do what they want!

 

some of the new mercedes c class come with their roofs PAINTED black and it looks great imo.
