Ron Jon body kit installation

I just bought the new Ron Jon body kit along with the 19" Inspyre chrome wheels for my 2005 TL. I just wanted to know anybody's experience with the actual installation of the kit.

I read somewhere that it uses all factory mounting places, so it should be relativelty simple.

Yea for a body kit with full bumper replacements its fairly easy. It uses stock mounts. Those 19's and the kit mustve taken a nice toll on your pocket

Instructions (and even a DIY guide) for the A-Spec kit is available on here. Since the Ron Jon uses the same stock mounts, you should just check out those directions. Everything can be found with a search (or The Garage). Good luck!

If you have the Helm's manual, just follow the step of removing the bumper in reverse. If not, PM Ron A, he can help you out with posting the specific pages. When I got my kit, my friend and I installed my Ronjon kit with no problems. We took our time with it and installed it just as good as a body shop. No gaps, fits great.

Pics will come once the project is complete. The kit should arrive today and I still need to arrange the scheduling of the paint. I want it to match exactly.

I looked through DIYs in a garage and manual pages, but still have a question:
I have used front bumber to house my remote radar detector sensors - one on each side, and I screwes them to a horizontal plastic piece inside the openings directly behind black plastic grill covers (see area circled in red on the pic attached)

Now to the big questoins:
1) if I install RonJon body kit, will I have the same mounting area inside new front bumper? Could anybody post a pic of front Ronjon bumper to show what's behind those mesh covers?

2) And to the mesh covers - clearly I can't have metal blocking the view of laser sensors - any idea how to reuse existing plastic covers or will I need to fabricate some new covers myself?
(after dropping 2K+ on that body kit that would realy suck)

I realy want to keep my nice BEL remote functioning and saving my ass from caps

Any thoughts/ideas are appretiated

the openings are somewhat deep, but behiond there its pretty much hollow, i'm sure a simple sheet aluminum bracket can be made to do whatever it is you need held. There is preforated sheet aluminum as vents, but maybe you can reserach a plastic mesh on Mcmaster-carr.com for raw materials. I don't see any problems with what your trying to do, its all as simple as you can see, no hidden mounts or anything.

RJ kit is complete

Well after a couple of weeks of waiting the work is complete. So far I'm very happy with my investment.

Is that thing lowered? If not, why did I get Tein's. With those wheels/tires it looks plenty low. What size tires/wheels? By the way, LOOKS GREAT!!!

I guess in person the gap above the tire looks greater then the pics?

You see, with the RJ's kit it makes this illusion that the car is lowered, but in reality it's not. I think it looks that way 'cause the kit is 1.5" lower that the A-Spec. Once it's lowered with RJ's kit it looks even better. I'll have the opportunity to see how it looks when I get my new suspension on the car tomorrow.

Desper, I actually got the kit raw from Ron Jon. I wanted to insure that the color matching was done to the t. My autobody did a great job though of matching it exactly.

JD TL-S, nope I haven't lowered my car at all. Still the stock height, but the overall profile of the kit plus the wheels helped it alot in that perspective. That was one of the things I was worried about when I first started to get the work done, but overall it's not too bad.

Car is lookin hot, only suggestion would be to get rid of that ugly ass orange headlight lens color, would look 10X better blacked out, the orange really kills the overall look and flow.

word, I should make a directory, finding a shop that good is hard for some people. With all these insurance job shops, they bitch and moan with a simple custom job.
