Rocks on freeway

Have any of you experienced a large number of rocks/pebbles getting kicked up onto your car from the car in front of you? I recently had about 10 feet of pebbles, I mean it was a 'pile' of rocks right in the middle of the lane. The car in front kicked the whole pile onto my hood and windshield at 70 mph. I have deep chips on my hood, way past the primer. So pissed. Can I ask the county to reimburse me for a paint job or anything? I really dislike those gravel trucks spewing rocks everywhere. They need to be fined or something.

Rock chips are an everyday part of driving. You just have to deal with it. I've had a couple of chips on my hood, but they weren't bad. The county would probably laugh at you if you tried to get them to pay for a new paint job.

Get a full nose make if you don't have the OEM body kit. It will save your front end, if not get the x-pel done. Where I live MD road pebbles and debris are a part of daily driving. If its that bad have your insurance look at it. Good luck.

Clearbra is the answer. However, get the chips paited first and then slap on clearbra. Full kit for TL runs for about $600-$1000 with pieces for lights.

Yeah, a clear bra would've been a nice investment. But I have no cash, and I feel it's kind too late anyway.

I know what you mean. It's not like they wer random pebbles on the freeway. They were left by Caltrans or someone else working on the road. I think they should be responsible. Should we have to suffer the consequences of their poor workmanship?

how about NOT following too close ?
may prove to be good for your front bumper too.

It's not just how far or close you are to the car in front of you. The car beside you could do just as much damage if not worse.

I just got back where the road was rock and dirt for 2 miles, they are paving, I made such a quick U-turn and drove the hell out of there, went around the other side of town, but worth it
