Rockblockers; too dark?

Anybody think their Rockblockers on the tail-lights are too dark in 20%? I know they available even darker to 35%. Kinda crazy. I saw a custom spray job that was a very light tint but looked PERFECT. That was out of my budget though. I really wish I could get the rockblockers in that light tint somehow. I have just closed my eyes and made an order for a full-set anyways. Maybe I'll like the 20% once I see them in person.

The 35% is LIGHTER than the 20%... The number represents the amount of light allowed THROUGH the film... just like tint. 20% is the darkest they make....

I have 35% and think it looks perfect

I know that normal tint the lower the % the darker it is. However with rockblocker they are a little weird. 20% is acutally the lighter version. I highly recommend them

What color is your car? I have 20% which is the lighter version, it looks excellent. It is noticable in the nighttime when it is getting dark outside and also the daytime, but when you step on the brakes it seems as if there was no tint on them at all.
This is the 20%:

Yep as ubnpast said RB's tinting % is backwards from the light transmission % that we understand universally for window tinting. I've also seen your pic of that anthracite on the RB site. I hope my anthracite looks as good as yours.

I just got the blue tinted on mine, and it looks great. No noticeable difference in light output either.. I have the RBP so it sets it off nice.. Will post pics when Ernesto is gone from the area..

I have a NBP, just stole rockblockers pic to show how light the 20% is, and take your time putting it on .

I just installed the 35% and it's absoultely perfect. I believe it really depends on what color car you have. I think the 35% on a NBP would be a little too dark. but on a WDP it's perfect. the 20% actually looks more like a Ruby Red color to me. The 35 still has a little red show through, but it looks slick. visibiloity is fine durning the night AND the day. (I know because I just got pulled over... cop paced me... I just got the RSB installed and I wanted to test it out in the local mountains. cop tagged me but didn't give me a ticket. actually complemented the car. had the hazards on, turning signals running, and he never said a word except for "beautiful car"

go 35% you won't regret it.

35%? Wow I imagine they'd be dark, I mean, I think 20% is pushing it. I'd prefer a light tint. Do you have pictures of 35%? On/off I've seen plenty of pictures of 20%.

up here in NJ that 35% will not pass inspection. you may have a chance with 20% to pass.

Sequoia, thanks for the pics. Be gentle? You think someone is going to diss that car? You have to be craaazy. That car is GORGEOUS. I have I thing for WDP but my wife ironically doesn't like any car in pearl white. (and here I am trying not to openly say I like the color because some think it's a color for a "chick car". I guess guys like it more.) The wheels are what set it off. I'd say the only thing you need on that car is a lip spoiler. Then again I'm sure you purposely avoided wanting to copy 95% of the TLs out there. Thanks for the 35% pics, now I have a much better idea. As they do look hot I still think they're too dark for these pesky northeast 5-0s that'll pull you over even for LED washer nozzles.

Agreed the 35% is really dark and not recommended unless for show car purposes. 20% gives the right amount of tint and look on the car to get the job done.

I've never had a problem, and cops trail me all the time. But your results may vary. :-)

I live in AZ and dont have any problems. Just wash and wax the tail light kit no matter where you live. Clear coated finishes always look better waxed IMHO

To make things maybe easier for people to understand. 20% tint means ONLY 17% light loss with the smoked film.

35% tint means 33% light loss in the light. So this one is much darker.

Right now 20% is as light as we have.

Here is the 20% (the lighter version) installed on my NBP. It is just perfect IMO, not too dark and not too light. Bump for rockblocker , 10 minutes and the taillight tint was on.
