Question A rock shattered my fog light lense...

My dealer stated the replacement glass (shocked me it was glass) is expensive and told me that they sell the same lense but plastic online. Anyone mind directing me where I could find this part? I'm tired of my care looking like Popeye ;-). I'm going to replace the bulbs with 2500k halogen. Always love the JDM/IS300/GS430 look.

Thanks guys...

Use lexan and silicone. I just did it last night. I can post up pics later.

I got my lexan pieces on eBay precut for my accord fogs.
You can buy a sheet of lexan and mark and cut to shape yourself.

Good tip - but *normal* lexan is not UV protected, and will both yellow and then crack. There is a UV protected lexan which costs more, and is used on outdoor projects. Sorry, I don't have a particular source. My local plastics warehouse has the stuff. Also, lexan is the GE specific name, and the same product is also avail under other names, from other than GE.

Interesting, never heard of glass fog light lenses... That is kinda illogical considering that being placed so low in relation to the vehicle that Lexan/plastic would make more sense.

My 91 Integra Coupe had glass fog lights but they were located beside the headlights.

But of course the position is exactly the same setup in our TL for 04-06 years. So I wouldn't be surprised that Acura continued to use glass lens for the fogs after the 90s and early 2000s.

I was referring to the other 95% of fog light-equipped cars that had headlights on top and fog lights on the bottom; I'm well-aware of the Integra configuration since my neighbor had one and I occasionally helped him work on it... I was more or less referring to how it should've been plastic from the get-go due to its higher likelihood of being struck by road debris as a result of its position.

There are still plenty of cars out there with glass lenses. Up until the e36 model 3 Series ('93-'98) they had glass lenses, my old e30 had them as well.

OP : For my TL I used PIAA 2500k plasma ion bulbs and I couldn't be happier. Here's a link to a thread I started with pics of what they look like.

One of the first things we look at when doing a detail is the fog light lenses .. to see if broken so we don't cut our hands. .. there is still a lot of mostly higher end cars using them.

one of the biggest complaints over the years has been the glass foglights that seem to crack easy. After mine cracked and were replaced when my car was less than 6 months I put rockblocker on them. Seems to go the job.

I didn't want to get specific, but yeah, you're right.

The material that my lenses are made of is Makron Polycarbonate, supposedly used in specific medical applications that require high heat and impact tolerance.

Supposedly through many tests, this is the best replacement material.
