Road noise

Is that part of the car or is most of that just due to the Turanzas?

It's my first experience with Bridgestone's, but I must say that the Michellin's on all my Legend's/RL were must quieter. Was changing the tires on my wife's Odyssey yesterday and was chatting with the tire dealer and he said that there's no comparison on handling / quietness between the stock Bridgestone's and the Mich Pilots. I just don't feel like forking over $800 for them ;(

I say its because of the tires...the Falken ST115s on my future rims are some of the quietest tires on the road... http://www.falkentire.com/tires_select.htm (look in luxury/sport section)

I agree. Sad that you pay for a new car and need new tires off the bat. I LOVE THE CAR. Real tight with no rattles, great nav..... just seems a little excessive sometimes with the road noise. Loaner didn't have that, but they prob hat Pilot on the demo, I should go back and check.

I complained to my service guy and he said that you have to put up with the trade off of road noise for sportier tires, that doesn't sound right. I agree that it is sad Acura wouldn't put a little more effort into the rubber their cars ride on.

Question

I wonder there is other noise source besides EL42s. Does anyone using Michelin now feel very quieter?

If only talking tires, I remember some ppl having Michelin Pilot ever said it's a little noisy...

I don't recall much road noise in my test drives either. I did notice that the cars are labeled "Test drive program, do not sell" on the window sticker. Could there be something different about the way they setup the testers?

they wouldn't be lableled, but cars are always put aside for test drives that are not sold. Might be configured differently, ie tires

I just changed to the Michelin Pilot Sport AS this past weekend. The car is a little quieter than it was with the EL42s but I can still hear the tires. The sound seems to be at a lower pitch which is less annoying. I was advised by one tire dealer that the Michelins may get a little noisier when they get broken in. It will be a couple of months before the final verdict is in on the road noise issue.

I find the car a little noisy but I am coming from a 00 Avalon with Michelin MX4s. That is the quietest car and tire combination I have ever used. I blew a tire on the car and went about a 1/2 mile before I realized it was blown.

I don't mind the noise on most roads and, at least, I can hear the fire engines and cops before I see their lights in my rearview mirror.

If I understand correctly, the people in this thread are finding the EL-42s to be noisy? Huh. I don't have that problem, and I HATE road noise. IMO these tires are far better than average at reducing road noise. I think the handling sucks, but that's another topic.

I have both the EL-42s, and the optional summer high performance tires. I just gave the high performance tires a needed break, and put 1,000 miles on the EL42s over the weekend. I did not notice any extra vibration or flat spoting with the EL-42s, but the weather was very warm. I did notice a substantial increase in road noise. My passenger (who had never been in the car before) did not notice anything unusual about the ride or the road noise. I think that all weather tires just make more noise than similar high performance tires.
