Arrow RL and TL pictures that compare!

i made the awesome comparison pictures of the TL and RL. JUST if people want to see the differences in the two brand new Acuras. i do not tend to suggest that the TL and RL are in the same market. just comparing what Acura has done.

the pictures are supposed to be a lot bigger but my hosting place shrinks them unfort..

enjoy

it's not announced how much the RL is yet but maybe it's just because i haven't heard yet. i'm pretty sure it's not announced yet.

the RL lacks a key feature of the TL. 6MT.

i think so too. the TL has a more clean slick look to it. and the TL is a perfect size for me, not too small but perfect for some good driving. the RL os more of a full size big family car.

I think Acura did a great job with the RL. It looks part BMW 7series/Mercedez/and Lexus.

I like RL font look. TL interior looks much more elegant. Just the head light of TL a bit narrow.

Thanks for the info. Good comparison job!

The front end is much more refined than the TL and screams Mercedes. And I love the 20" rims. I'm not too sure about the back though. From some angles it looks good but from others it looks Accord-like.

RL interior looks identical (not a bad thing). The TL looks much better, much sportier and just blends in better. The RL looks like a bunch of ideas mixed together.

Whoever started this thread, OUTSTANDING work with the side by side pics.

micha

indeed awesome work on the comparo pics, thanks.

I like the RL grill much better. The TL back is sportier but not sure how it would look on the more conservative RL. The RL instrument stack looks like it just went one item too high with the Navi...wonder why they did this? ---maybe some people didn't like smudges on their touch-screen Navis, or maybe the RL's is better height for viewing, I don't know but either way is OK. I like the TL narrow-slit headlight holders but at least RL did not go as big as ES330.

The exterior of the RL looks mighty fine, indeed. In all honesty, though, I prefer the interior of the TL.........there's just something too "busy" about the RL interior.

The TL looks more conceptual, and has a smoother, crisper styling. The RL looks more expensive, inside and out. They did a good job.

I personally like the looks of the RL. The TL has more of a bad ass look though. I think the inside of both cars looks great. The leather seats in the RL looks like it would put me to sleep while driving. Now, are the rims in those pics really going to be standard on the production models?? Anyone think they're going to change the stereo in the TL to the 5.1 bose? Unfortunately on a teachers salary I will not be able to afford the RL anytime soon, but plan on getting a TL this fall. (can't afford that yet either lol). Quick question about the stereo in the TL.....when turned up do you feel it's louder and more bass then the 2nd gen. TL Bose??

I think the exterior is so-so, prefer the TL
The interior on the other hand looks interesting. I will be checking it out when my local dealer gets one this fall.

Nice but,,, I always felt that the RL was TOO big for me..
I have a neighbor who has an RL he wants a TL now because the RL uses TOO much
fuel..
They are also invisible... and "stodgy" if you ask me.
Last..
Acura will need to "catch up" the RL since the TL is clearly the better buy for now..

The RL is awesome in comparison to the TL. I don't know what the difference in price will be, but the TL looks cheap compared to the RL. In fact, I think the RL should have been the direction for the second gen upgrade of the TL.

With that said, the pics of the rear of the new '05 TL look much better. If they'd lose the narrow headlamps and ugly front bumper, they may have a car worth buying. Of course it will still be sucking the rear of the 300 hp awd RL.

Two tidbits from the NY Auto Show's Coverage I've been reading.

First, from Edmunds:

What's Edmunds Take?

While not as distinctive as the TL on the outside, there's enough interesting new gear underneath the skin of the RL to give it some appeal in a tough segment. We don't expect too many BMW buyers to give up their 5 Series to get one, but there are plenty of buyers who will find the RL's combination of performance and luxury an appealing package. —

Next from the NY Times:

(What you'll notice here are tons of 'insiders' thoughts on many of the prototypes/production vehicles being introduced at the show and not *one* mention of the new RL with it's revolutionary AWD system....pretty enlightening.)

I like the TL exterior and interior much better than the RL. I've been waiting to see the RL to make a decision on RL vs TL. I'll have to see the RL in person, but its likely the TL that wins out. I just wish TL had AWD, OnStar and Navi with Traffic. Maybe '06. Can't wait that long, though.

Thumbs up Acura did it again-another stylish new remodel

Well, I for one really like the new RL. I have been debating which car to buy.
I have drove (not in any particular order), BMW3+5 series,Mercedes C32,E- class, Infiniti G35,Acura TL. I like them all !! Being closer to 50 than I'd like to
admit, I am now going to wait to see and drive the new RL before making any
decisions. If the RL has all the technology of the TL, plus more HP, plus all wheel drive (I do ski frequently in the winter), I will be giving it a serious look !
Thanks Acura for designing another great looking car !!
