RL to TL

Anyone go from RL to TL? I am debating on gettin a used TL for maybe about 21000 within a month or wait 2 months and having enough saved up for an 05 RL. But i am not sure which i would like more. I have drivin the RL and loved the way it felt. I have only drivin in a TL and it felt really light and quick but with all the gadgets in the RL i keep thinkin i will kick myself for being impatient and buying the quicker car. I am just curious to know if anyone has owned an RL and not liked it and gone down to a TL.

RL is a far superior car... By all means keep saving if you can afford it... but you're young too. Don;t live your youthful years paycheck to paycheck paying for a stupid car. Buy a civic if the RL will eat up your fun money. Your only in your early 20's once.

Just joking. Most people go the other way around, like I did, from TL to RL. The TL is never far from my heart, though. This was my favorite picture of my 2004 TL:

I miss her some when I look at that picture.

My TL felt fast as balls, and was REALLY fun to drive once modded with better tires, 18" wheels, and A-Spec suspension. Some days I wish I'd kept it.

Once you go SH-AWD, though, and experience the better build quality of the RL, you can never go back. Especially with a few mods (see sig).

I could change my mind once I see the 4G TL, however.

save yourself some head-ache and get yourself a 06 RL, the first model year to buy exactly isn't the best and can have a few flaws. These are usually corrected in the next year. Get the 06 and be happy with it rather than have problems, just my

I'm on my second 3G TL/TL-S and had a 05' RL too.

The RL is not as quick, but it rides solid.

The RL feels better built, but I'm fine with my TL so I sold the RL and kept the 05' TL I already had.

I felt the interior layout and look of my TL was better (just my opinion), but was also happy with the RL's interior.

One thing I wished my TL had was the awesome navigation that the RL comes with. I just bought an 07' TL-S about 2 months ago and enjoy the RL navi in the new TL-S.

The RL's sound system also sounded crisper. Those extra two speaker maybe

If I was you, I'd pick the TL.

no offense to anyone...but I think at your age, if you're caught in an RL, whether it be the '05 or the '06 (same design), you'd give people the wrong idea, like riding your parents' car?? If you're putting 8k down, you might as well opt for the '08 or possibly the '07 TL-S (should be slightly a better deal). Just my

If you're looking for superior ride comfortability, then go with the RL...otherwise, go TL/TL-S for performance (hence superior...doesn't mean TL/TL-S aren't good because i'm totally content). In the end...you can't go wrong with either cars because they're both Acuras!

I wish for the exact same thing

I personally would go with the RL if money is not an issue. You probably already know the specs of both cars so no need to state the obvious reasons, but I prefer luxury over sport. If you are patient enough, wait for the 4GTL; that way you have more options. Good luck

I disagree. The TL is one of the best designed cars around in terms of styling......far from fogey....even w/o the accessories.

Thats the question YOU need to answer...whats more important to you? Sport or luxury? Once you figure that out, then you'll know what car to get.

But i also agree with others saying wait for the 4gtl or get the Type-s now. I love my type-s, it doesn't get any better.

I don't know...but I think they're both gorgeous. Fogey or not...go for the one you like better. I drove Cadillacs when I was in my 20's...wanted luxury rides. Now I AM A FOGEY and I drive a TLS 6MT. Never gave a hoot about how it looked to anyone else, and still don't.

What a fucking ignorant statement. Maybe your avatar explains your inability to make an intelligent statement.
The TL consistently outscores the the RL in reliability, and has nearly the same roominess to boot. Acura can only lease the RL. The sales numbers speak for themselves. Pick up the auto edition of Consumer Reports and read the statistics from people that own them (don't skip over the reliability numbers).
You probably wouldn't believe them, either. didn't come out of Japan.
I will continue to support the people here in Ohio that makes the TL the quality machine it is!
I'm on my second one, and haven't had the first problem.

+1 lol

Same here - I drove mostly Cadillacs, Buicks and Oldsmobiles when I was younger, now I like something a little sportier. I was looking at Mazda 6's when I found my TL, and I LOVE IT!

Fogies like to have fun, too

Go with the TL and you can't go wrong. The RL is nice but not worth the extra $. It's a poor seller, hence poor resale and looks like like an old man's car. Not for me.

I couldn't agree more. The '07 is leaning more toward luxury, so the price difference doesn't make much sense. It is the perfect car!

I think the TL is the BEST value on the market currently and the RL is the WORST (comparing it to the other cars in their respective classes)

If you want to go with the status, get a RL .... if you want performance/sporty, get a TL/type-s .... money not a issue ....

Otherwise, get a Civic Si or Accord v6 coupe ....

I see this limpy old fart in my building whom everyone hates driving a RL & I keep on telling myself there is no freaking way I will drive a same car as he does ... just my personal preference though ....

The standard TL without A-spec kit is a bit fogey... That's why you hear all the kids in here crying about "saw a TL today, some old dude in a suit". Add A-spec kit and some wheels and it really jazzes it up. TL-S is a bit sportier, sure... and it's only the new TL-S drivers that refuting my comments. Keep convincing yourself you're driving a sports car guys... but it's a big heavy 4 door sedan no matter how you look at it.
I see over 10 TL's a day in NoVA driving back and forth to work. Mine's the ONLY one on the streets modded... cause they're all being drivin by old fogey's.

What's driving your market analysis?
The TL-S lost it's "good value" at release... I paid $32K OTD for my 06/Navi. TL-S is selling for $37! That's hardly a "value", especially considering the features available on other similarly equipped models...

G35X? - RL is Far superior, even with the new body style. You need to read up on infinty's AWD platform, and how superior SH-AWD is to it, not mention all the additional luxury features on the RL.
335X - I perefer the RL again, especially considering the BMW costs, and maintenence.
BMW 5 series? - equavalent... German maintenence.

I just helped my boss buy a new RL (leaned on here to go that route, she was looking at the G35X too). Scooped an a fully loaded 2006 (PAX tires and everything), for $39K OTD ... That's almost TL-S numbers for 300HP, AWD, and more tech wizardry than a hacker conference... I would have traded in that day had she not been there to buy.

Sure that doesn't say much for resale, but the TL's has endured an exceptionally high resale values. Those days are limited when the new body style is released potentially next year.

Do you enjoy following me around like a School Teacher? Go away. I am

allowed to have MY opinion. Sure this RL looks good, but I still think IMO

its an OLD mans car. If it had a 340hp V8 then I would consider

spending a FORTUNE on all the accessories to MAYBE make one look like

this RL. BUT it doesn't. I think the TL looks WAY better

It that OK with you teacher?

Could I see more pictures? I would like to see one in silver, and a few rear pics,

I don't like the rear of the RL, IMO

I have a slightly different opinion about the RL not being a good value. If anything, it is the cheapest (market value not MSRP) in its respective class and offers the greatest value.

Don't you know your NOT allowed opinions, shame on you.

The TL looks Great with nothing added. When I see a clean TL with the

OEM silver 5 spoke wheels and the tires dressed I look and wish my

wheels looked that nice. The RL in the showroom looks nasty.

I never cared how it looked.

Be careful with your opinions

I think i am going to go for a RL. All the stuff that the RL has to offer is almost too good to pass up. I mean the TL is great and i think its the sexiest car out right now but the fact that its most likely going to change next year and there are soooooo damn many out right now i'd rather wait til like 2010 to get a TL. I think the RL is really sexy too. Everytime i see 1 i am just amazed and like damn its gorgeous. Plus after driving one it just feels so solid and the sh-awd is great. I dont know much about the TL's safety ratings but i know the RL has a high safety rating which is really good for me and my son. I'll probably pay off the RL in like a year and a half or so so its not a big deal. I see most the people in this section of the forum are bias towards the TL as i expected, but didnt think there was that much hate for the RL. Maybe i'll wait and save up like 3 grand more and get a 07 TL-s. I will just have to see which features the RL has that the TL-s also have. Thanks for everyones response anyway.

I have a TL and love it. But if I were offered the RL for the same money I paid for the TL, the choice would have been obvious and easy. I could have bought the RL, but yielded to my wife's urging to put the 9k savings (by buying the cheaper TL) towards my son's college fund. Both TL and RL are great value in their respective segments. You cannot go wrong with either, and whichever you wish to buy (or can afford to buy) is your choice. For most people, going from TL to RL is an upgrade. For the dissenters, it may be sour grapes.

Uhm....go visit the RL board here and you'll find plenty of youngins with the 2G RL. Myself included. I don't see 50 for another 11 years. I think the youngest owner over there is in his early 20's. It's definitely not a grandpa car if you put decent wheels and a lip spoiler on.

I thought about the Mugen body kit for my RL, but it wouldn't look right without the V8 of the Mugen Legend Max in it, and besides, it's $$$$$$$ as it'd have to be shipped from Japan.

I'm a fan of both the TL AND the RL. I've made my RL a little faster (click "my car" link) and you'll see.

Personally, I love both cars but I have to admit i do love the RL a little more because of the Adaptive headlights that the RL gets.

Personally if I was as young as you I would go with the TL. For me, if was making that decision again I would chose the RL (and I LOVE MY TL) because living in New England the SH-AWD would have been a +, but that is just my

I don't like the rear of the RL as others has mentioned but with child on the way luxury would have pulled me towards the RL.

As others have said "Both cars are Sweeeeeeet"

Again, just my

If there is two versions of TL, 1 is made in Japan, 1 is made in USA. I will pay A FEW GRAND MORE to get the Japan version... Just because Japanese do everything more carefully, if you come to Japan once, you will see. Item made in USA is not bad, too, but not enough...
I don't talk about technology though.
