Rims Stolen off 2008 Acura TL from my neighbor

My neighbor, purchased a brand New 2008 Acura TL, Silver.
The women has it totally stock,

one morning I come outside the neighborhood, and I see police in front of her home.

Her car was on Blocks, They took all 4 Stock split spoke 2008 Wheels,

What a shame. But she got a new pair from Acura, with New tires.

After that I am thinking to buy 4 different sets of Locks, Make it very difficult for people to try to remove the wheels.

just get the lock nuts, at least they slow the theft down or your car alarm will goes off if they try the hammering the socket method.

Yea, but i am sure she has the factory alarm. Since the car is negative ground, I wonder is there a way to wire in a tilt sensor if someone had the schematics of the factory alarm...

yes indeed, you can try by locking your car and trying to kicking at the tire then the alarm will goes off, I found this out when my car was lock and I am trying to bang out the rotor and set off the alarm.

If they really want to steal them, let them. That's what insurance is for.

Sad that you have to worry about your vehicle ending up on blocks in front of your house.

hearing lots of story where thieves have targeted 3rd gen tl's...im mostly seeing rims stolen...

be glad acura made it to where its impossible to steal our tl's like the old model 99 civics etc...

same issue with me...someone tried to steal my c5's last week..i noticed it when i came outside both of my front two wheels were loose...and finger prints all over my fender...called the police and made a report...im sure my german shepard chased him away...of some sort...shes sneaky...she would dig hold under thehouse and stay under the house

I have never considered that insurance covers wheel theft.

Of course it makes your insurance go up, nothing is for free, the only time you can get away crystal clean. Which also depends on insurance co.. Is only when there is a legit hit and run, but the idea of having insurance is you do not pay as much as what the damage will actually amount too.

No one is safe anywhere you are, and just as the gentleman above me posted, the factory rims are stupid expensive. Which is why people will steal them; guaranteed return of some decent cash

Thank god we have active trans-lock, or the honda epidemic would continue XD

Speaking of wheel theft someone broke into the Vossen warehouse the other day and stole a bunch of wheels. They are offering a reward for info to help capture the theifs for those of you in the Miami FL area keep an eye out.

I would suggest looking up the DIY for the shock sensor for both you and your neighbor. But it's definitely a good idea to put wheel locks on. If they did it once they would do it again.

Locks will only slow a thief down if nothing at all. Best thing to do would be to park in a garage if you have one.

I think if you have aftermarket rims that are valued at over 500 / corner. I think a small investment in an aftermarket alarm with tilt sensors is the smart and logical thing to do.

what a load of bullshit. I'm so sick of shit people stealing wheels - we see way too many threads on this stuff on Acurazine.

The hit and runs are even worse. I actually witnessed a hit and run last week Friday as someone t-boned somebody literally 5 feet away from my car. I thought of all the parking lot hit and runs that we hear about on Acurazine and I chased the person down in my Speed Racer TL-S. Caught them parked, took license plate and found 2 on-foot patrol officers 1 block away. The night ended poorly for that person, let me tell you.

sorry to hear about this, but luckily insurance will take care of it. Still as others have said, it's unnerving because the same people could easily come back and steal the replacement wheels.

Hells yeah dude I would do the same thing. At over 500 bucks a corner I think a garage would be ideal.
