Thumbs up Riding With The King

My first DVD-A and a great DVD-A tip!

When I found out that DVD-A's won't play on my home CD player, I decided that I wouldn’t be buying any and I wasn't really inclined on duplicating my CD collection in DVD-A just for the TL.

However, I just bought some CD's with an e coupon at an online store. They didn't have what I was looking for (Riding With The King - Eric Clapton and BB King - Blues) in CD format so on a lark I bought it in DVD-A. What an incredible album and what an incredible sound system we have in our TL's. If you like blues….this is a great road trip album!
Now I know I may have different tastes in music than most of you because I'm twice your age (48) but you should really check it out.

I might just have to reconsider my original decision not to buy DVD-A's just for the TL!

EC was here...

I'm a huge blues fan myself. Clapton has put out a few DVD-A's that are worth checking out. Also, in June "Me and Mr.Johnson" will be released in DVD-A.

I bought my first two DVD-A's today and Riding with the King was one of them. The sound is amazing.

(The other was Sammy Hagar live, which is a great DVD but given that it was recorded live it doesn't really take full advantage of the DVD audio capabilities).

One thing I've found is that poorly engineered CDs or DVDs sound just awful on this system.

Thumbs down Oversize DVD-A plastic cases...

One thing I forgot to address in my original thread. Why do they make the DVD-A plastic cases larger than the standard CD cases? Some ignoramus made that decision for sure! They don't fit in the CD compartment in our TL's or anywhere else that standard CD's would fit!

I have Led Zeppelin, The Police, Blue Man Group, and REM, and all of them sound amazing on their DVD-As.

And all of them, except the Blue Man Group, fit in the armrest compartment. What compartment are you referring to? The BMG one I just stick in the glove.

The compartment below the audio system that holds 5 CD's.

I read somewhere that with DVD's, they decided on the larger case because they felt people wouldn't want to pay $19.99 or more for a disc the size of a CD. This may explain the larger DVD-A cases.

I just filled my player with DVD-As recently and "Riding with the King" is probably the best one I have. The Chicago second album(?) is also very good. Can't wait for Me and Mr.Johnson.

I go with the CD binder; plastic jewel cases in the compartment would rattle and drive me bonkers.
