I also like RODNEY wired it up to the cup holder for a tailgater switch. RODNEY really deserves credit for this mod.

And those of you who dont get the power of HID.. watch:

And this is a video of ABP04TL hitting the tailgater switch.. BACK OFF!!

Hello,

do you have a different switch for this second video? for the back up light?

how's the power working? is this will not drain your battery if you have too much HID?

thanks...

I would be leery about mounting the ballasts in the trunk and putting the liner back in over top of them. I'm guessing that you used some sort of double sided adhesive to mount them since they are on the underside of the trunk sheet metal. My concern is the heat from the ballasts, the sun heating up a dark color car over time and the vibration will eventually bring the ballast down on the underside of the felt trunk lining.

100% safe... absolute no problems with heat.. I use 3M VHB tape and you can ask, many people who have seen this setup.. they can hang off those ballasts that's how strong they are stuck on there. No heat issues what so ever.

Awesome! Another HID Reversed TL!

I think the delay timer is an absolute must because you do not want to cause the flicker effect every time you go from Park to Drive or Drive to Park .. because this is just a big no no for HID's. This wouldn't be a problem for LED's or halogens.

The 2 second timer, prevents exactly this. I wouldn't recommend doing it any other way. Without the timer.. you aren't going to cause any serious damage, only thing that will fry is your ballasts or bulbs prematurely. So you'll end up replacing your equipment sooner then expected. The delay timers are about 10 bux I think.. very cheap.

I just rewired my crap again after I installed a new backup camera last week... very easy. I'm tempted to go near the airport and pop my trunk open and see if I can land some airplanes..

did you run a power wire from the battery all the way to the trunk?

Sorry guys I can't provide wiring diagrams for atleast 2 weeks.. I'm slammed with work and in between the moving process. I can try my best to answer questions whenever I can.

As far as running a power wire from the battery, I did that for my amp, so I was able to grab power from my distribution block in the back. I would highly recommend grabing power from the battery or else you will fry your stock wiring cuz the current draw on start up is a lot for those little wires to handle.

The momentary can be used to either trigger the timer relay or the 2nd relay directly.

Mikey, search for the DIY by bzyrice. I don't think it has been added to the 3G Garage yet. The delay timer is the "528T Timer SPDT Relay".

You should only need one.

The wiring diagram they ship with the unit is so tiny it is unreadable. Here it is in PDF:
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...&term=DEi+528t
There is another diagram PDF showing the remote start delay wiring.

I have not begun this project yet, but I believe we need to use the instructions for the Remote Start Delay. So you would connect the OEM green reverse light wire to the black w/stripe trigger input and the brown to the trigger input of the HID relay.

Please, someone who knows something about this check out the diagram above and correct me if I'm wrong.
