Resetting the Maintenance Minder

I just picked up my new 04 TL 6MT Navi and am loving every minute of driving it. I usually do my own oil changes on cars, but am not sure if I will on my TL. My hesitation is in resetting the maintenance minder system after you complete the oild change.

My questions are: Does the maintenance minder reset automatically when you change the oil, or do you have to reset it manually?

If you do have to reset it manually does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks, Mike

  • MID won't reset automatically for you
  • If reminder pops up, you could always reset it
  • Besides Oil Life, you cannot reset others unless their reminders pop up. For example, tires rotation or tranny fluid, you cannot reset them until their warning reminders display

rets: Is that also the case if one has an OBDII scanner? When I get a light I will check, but i seem to recall there are "pending" resets. I have the same one AutoZone uses, but then I sprung for the big dog, ther AutoXray 6000. I have been meaning to do some coolant temperature studies - I will have to remind myself. I am also going to do an FFT analysis of the ELS audio system.

RR, please try it and let us know. I remember that Sherlock, one of our members, ever used OBDII scanner to check some info. But I do wish we could find some ways to bypass that MID and reset all reminders anytime we want.
