Reset service; oil change

My car said service was due (i think A2) and my oil life was really low. When i brought my car in to the acura dealer to have my front a-spec body kit installed, the technician asked me if i wanted an oil change i said no it's okay, and then he asked me if i wanted the service button reset and i said yes. Driving back to my dorm, i noticed the oil life said 100%.

My question is, Did he change the oil without me knowing, or does it automatically go to 100% after you reset? Cause if it does, then I need an oil change fast.

hmm i think it as soon as you reset it automatically goes back to 100%...i think the car reads the oil level by the KM you have driven and the % method is just a reading that the car takes to tell you that you need it changed...so you prolly shud get it changed up cause ur A2 service is due and then they will reset it again...correct me if im wrong..buh thats what i think..havent reallie done research on it...

The tech did a courtesy reset of the indicator for you
He probably thought you were going to change the oil yourself at home.
Do it now and you will be fine.

The "service button reset" resets the oil life indicator back to 100% (and more).

In paragraph 3a of the manual, the requirement to hold the button for 10 seconds the second time it is pressed is omitted. If this is not done, the display will not reset.)

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON

2. Select Trip A or Trip B (You can use either one, so if you are using one to record data for something, use the other one to reset the Oil Life Indicator).

3. Press the < or > button repeatedly until the oil life is displayed.

4. Press and hold the Select/Reset button for 10 seconds. The Multi-Information Display will ask for a confirmation.

This will explain what happens to the other services items when you reset the MID before the service due message appears.

From the service manual, page 3-6: (NOTE: This information is not in the owners manual.

So this means if you change your oil before the 15% Service Due Soon is displayed, and you go to reset the display, if there are other items to be serviced, they will show up on the display, and if you clear the display the MID will take this to mean that you performed the required service.

      To clear the display:
After you get that service screen hold the reset/select for another 10seconds.
It will then ask you a question. I don't remember exactly, bus something about do you want to reset.
Press the reset/select button and the MID will be reset

The above information may not be exact because I did it a while back and forget exactly what I did, but the next time I will write it down and update this if necessary.

The statement from the service manual is a little vague, and I think they meant to say that if other items require service, the message "Service Due Soon" will be displayed, since if there is nothing else requiring service there would be no need for the message.
