Resale Value
It seems that the TL doesn't enjoy great resale value. Lexus/Toyota absolutely dominated.

Just from February to March the residual (a reflection of resale value, obviously) on a TL lease dropped quite a bit. No question that resale value of Acuras has not held up as in the past. Infiniti doesn't do so well, either. Lexus...yup. That's why you can lease a Lexus for less even if the car costs a little more.

The truth is that nobody knows what the resale value of an 04 TL will be in a few years. All they are doing is projecting based on past history. They are probably only a little more accurate than people that are convinced they know the exact return you'll get in the stock market over the next few years.
The values of makes and models go up and down slowly over time (relative to other cars - I'm not saying that the value of a used car will ever go up). This depends on supply and demand of the used vehicle. If the new model keeps a good reputation, compared to past years and its competition, then the used models will be worth more than currently predicted. A few years ago, nobody predicted the Acura MDX would be holding its value so well.

I traded my 2000TL for and 04TL two weeks ago. I checked Kelly Blue Book and the trade in value was listed at $13,500. The trade in value for a 2000 Lexus ES300 with the same mileage was $15,300. When I purchased my 2000 new the MSRP was $28,800. I also looked at the Lexus at that time and the MSRP, equipped as the TL, was about $35,000. Four year value of TL 47%, Lexus 44%.
If anybody is thinking of trading in their car, try to get the GALVES book. This is what dealers are using to give you a price. The NADA and EDMUNDS are to be used when you sell the car to a private party. This is why the galves book is referred as the "graveyard" book, when people hear what dealers are offering them.
If anyone cares, the 36-month residual on a 5AT/Navi is $19,709.20 this month (March) - at least if you lease through Honda. That's 56% of the MSRP (including destination charge).
Is that for 12,000 miles per year or 15,000?

something smells fishy about that report....I had read another that had stated the Acura TL to be in the top 10 in resale value.
