Replacing Motor Mounts

What's up guys, I have an 06' TL 5AT. I was told that I have to replace my motor mounts, and wanted to know if I should just buy the oem mounts or if I should buy better ones. I know that motor mounts help with slight HP increase. I also know my 06' 5AT sadly wont be going fast due to the lack of certain things. So, should I just save money and play it safe or be a baller and buy better mounts for fun.

motor mounts do exactly what their names imply.
mounts the motor to the subframe, while lessening vibration with rubber.

so, no. the big baller motor mounts will not increase HP.
the big baller motor mounts are designed a different way to lessen energy transfer from the engine.
they are also designed with polyurethane instead of rubber

so, what it comes down to is budget, or how much you are willing to pay for mounts.
OEM mounts from the dealer is EXPENSIVE!!!
unless you buy them from rockauto.com, the OEM mounts cost more than the aftermarket big baller ones.

thus why I chose to go XLR8 engine mounts.
they were cheaper than a set of OEM's and designed in a way to keep my engine planted without tearing the rubber every 2 secs.

Also, when buying the mounts from XLR8 is there a major difference between the 62A or 75A inserts?

durometer is the measure of a materials hardness.
75a will be harder than 62a

so, 75A will be more stiff and create a little more vibrations in the car.
remember, OEM mounts are rubber and are designed to quell vibrations.
the XLR8s move to a material that lessons energy transfer, or movement which will add more vibrations to the car

Id rather just buy the XLR8 to save money then, also the vibrations cant be that bad. It is worth it anyway.

Vibrations are pretty bad and even worst with the a/c on. Had to use flashpro to raise my idle to cancel out the vibrations

since your an 06 at your don't have that luxury good luck

Are they OEM equivalents (meets and exceed OEM spec) or are they actual OEMs (Honda/Acura parts) or are they from the same manufacturer that produced the OEM parts? I just bought OEM mounts from Acura and like to know the differences for the next time.

Thanks.

If you go to the rockauto its noted which ones are OEM in the description. They are not OE or genuine acura/honda parts they are OEManufacturer.

also get the one that are fluid filled. They make hard rubber mounts but those also vibrate

When I clicked on the ones with OEM in the description for 06' Motor Mounts, they said they are in the aftermarket industry that meet or exceed your original mount's spec so they're OEM equivalents not OEManufacturer. Just because they have OEM in the description does not make them OEM or OEM parts. Just want to verify my assumptions.

The TL is really cool in all the neat features it has...in corners the OEM mounts will stiffen up.
this is due to the vacuum from the intake manifold and when ever you are on the gas, the mounts will stiffen with vacuum!!

well, in theory...anyway..

in real life, we dont really feel the mounts stiffening. so, it will be fine if you buy mounts without the vacuum.

I tore out the hose and plugged up the intake manifold.

Cool i got the ones made by Becks with vacuum lines from Rockauto. Will get them installed soon.

How much time would it take a mechanic to install all three?
Can someone plz confirm that no need to lift engine or transmission during this?

you do need to slightly lift oil pan, which lifts engine....

think about it...if you remove all three, engine will be sitting LOWER.
so, you kinda have to alternate mounts....side is easy as fuck!

put a block of wood under the oil pan and the jack and lift it up after you unbolt everything. You might have to knock the front mount out a little bit to free it from the engine
