Question Replacing air filter element and dust/pollen filter?

I've searched the forums and found some threads but not the specific answer I was looking for.

Just got the B2 service reminder but am only going to do the oil change and want to do the filter changes myself. The manual says I need to replace the air cleaner element AND replace the dust and pollen filter. I live in an urban area so I think it's about time I replaced both. If I read correctly somewhere, the pollen filter is under the glovebox? and the air cleaner element? They just mean the air filter under the hood, right? (I feel like an idiot)

Also, where and what brand and about how much will each cost at an auto parts store? I was thinking of going with K&N for the air filter but have no clue about the pollen filter, is it generic? Oh and if someone knows the best DIY links if they could post em that would be great, I'm stretched for time :/

^Yes you are correct

air element = air filter

pollen filter = cabin filter

Ahhh ... you'd already found 'em. I saw you posted in a couple of those threads while (or before) I posted links.

The 3G Garage is a great place to browse though - lots of great threads/info there.

really? I tried to do it yesterday, without removing the clips, and could not move the plastic housing enough to get the filter out.

are the 4 (8mm) bolts holding down the engine filter housing that hard to be unscrewed? My Phillips screw driver keeps slipping and that thing doesn't even turn. Any inputs guys?

Best to use a nut driver with an extension.
