Replacement Brembo Calipers

Anyone have experience buying reman. PowerStop Brembo calipers? I was taking a look at RockAuto and these seem to be quite cheaper vs the Centric reman and a bit cheaper than the NuGeon reman. The reason I'm looking for replacement is because the paint on mine is getting super tired and I just plan on respraying/installing the new calipers and selling the old ones. Let me know what you guys think!

What about just respraying your current calipers? Many have done it.......a lil work, but could be much less expensive!

Unless your car is a show car, just hit it up with some rattle cans. No one is going to notice but you.

The black or red remanufactured Brembo calipers on RockAuto are a smoking bargain. I'll be buying the red ones if/when the time comes for new calipers on my car.

well I don't have the tools at home to remove calipers and I'd like to paint them fully removed, plus with the cost of new ones I wouldn't be paying that much extra cause the TL Brembos seem to do well on the local market

Yeah, it would bug me though cause I'm very picky with my car lol, I just like the finish of a proper powdercoat. My car isn't concours but its a really really good shape overall.

I assume the red ones you're referencing are the PowerStop ones? I mean end of the day its just reman brembo for all of them, so that shouldn't matter, right?

Wait so all these examples are Brembo © but rebuilt by others? But it’s still a Brembo caliper? I dig it

Correct, given the Brembo calipers used on the 3G 6MT and 3G Type-S models are the exact same caliper used in other cars such as the Mitsubishi Evo, there are plenty of aftermarket units available for remanufacturing.

Don’t do the mistake I did. I said the same oh instead of painting my brembos for the 4th time let me get a rebuilt set that will last many years and I can paint fresh. Nope. They do not feel the same as the oem!! It’s all about the piston inside that makes the difference. I hate the feel of the remans brakes and had to buy a used brembo oem set that I am now refinishing and rebuilding myself. I’ve bled remans many many times and they still don’t feel good. I’ve talked to others and they say the same about their remans.

don’t sell your oem!

Interesting feedback; this is the first negative review I've ever seen on remanufactured Brembo calipers.

I did the same researched a lot before doing it. But I’ve been sorely disappointed and I’ve since talked to a few people that did the same. Don’t know if quality went down or what. Just trying to pass on a warning for others maybe they will have better luck

wow interesting, I actually came across the idea on your build thread a while ago. that's kinda shitty to hear though, thought it would be identical. i guess i'll go down the rattle can route perhaps but take my absolute time with it. thanks for the feedback man - much appreciated!

Yes, the only reman I would buy is from Centric. I just was being smart ass with Sockr1 because I am the one who told him about the differences between reman and rebuilt, he then goes well no wonder why the brake pedal never felt the same. If you buy the reman make sure replace the piston and seals with OEM/ Brembo one.

you can’t buy oem pistons and seals By themselves only the dust covers. Unless you buy a used oem caliper

Piston wise I would only buy from Centric, the seal are available through OEM part website. The tricky part is that small o-ring that connect between the two half is hard to find, I believe the Centric rebuilt kit has the small oring as well.

Like SockR1 said new Brembo piston only available through new caliper, if your car doesn't spend time in winter state the piston does not need to be replaced.

you can’t buy the seal either on oem websites. Only the dust covers. I’ve seen the package in person and discussed it with my local parts manager

Interesting, my car of course does live in a winter/salt state, so I'm assuming sooner or later I'll need to update my calipers. I checked the Brembo site, and while it contains a pretty fair amount of rhetoric saying, stuff like official Brembo products are the best, however, there is no way to buy new or remanufactured calipers for our cars from them. I guess that leaves Acura as the sole source of OEM calipers.
