Removing rear deck
Hey folks, I am interested in removing the rear deck in order to access the subwoofer. I intend to change it for a better quality speaker. Does anyone have details or factory instructions?

You have to actually go to that part of the forum. This is the Main 3G TL forum. Then there is the Audio/Nav forum, the Photo Gallery, & the Tire/Wheel/Suspension forum. Just click on those and post a new thread.

I've done this .. it involved taking off the rear seat, the two h-pillar/beam covers, and then removing the rear-deck. Also, it requires you to remove the underside of the rear deck the trunk. It's quite a task, but doable w/ a lot of patience, and plan on doing it w/ ample daylight .. I posted the first part of the job earlier, and it's in the 3G garage... search for "REAR deck rattle fix with pics)

Just beware than there are some plastic snaps/dowels that fix certain parts of the deck to the metal underframe. When you pry these, be particularly cautious b/c they are very easily cracked and broken, making them useless when you wanna put the deck back together. You'll know exactly what I am talking about when you take the car apart.

Wait a second, you don't have to remove the trunk lining in order to access the subwoofer. You only need to remove the 5 bolts from the seat, release the two latches for the seat bottom, and remove the c-pillar covers.
The biggest pain in the butt is screwing that last bolt back in for the backseat. It's the angled bolt near the middle seat's seat belt buckle.
