Removing dealer sticker

Does anyone know what's a good way to get rid of the dealer stickers that are sometimes on the car. I would think an razor blade would do it but I'm a little worried about scratching the paint. Thanks

I should also note that I am talking about the dealer sticker that is usually on the outside rear of the car. On mine it's on the top left side of the computer. Thanks

You can probably find ways to do it using the search button.

BUT..i'll explain it.. I'm thinking that you have one of those decals or emblems (if there is such thing) that names the dealership. WEll...what you can do is use a hair dryer and heat up the decal/emblem and use your fingers to just rub it off. It'll become really flexible and soft so it shouldn't be that hard. If it's the emblem type..heat it, and use dental floss (2 layers=stronger) and just saw it off. After you get the emblem off..there is gunk that is still left on your car. If so, either use goo gone and take it off..or heat up the gunk and rub it all off. Finish by using rubbing alcohol to take off any of the remaining residue and you could use wax to give it a shiny finish..(although you don't need to).

Good luck.hope that helps..

Reloaded.

Ummm...shouldn't the dealer remove it as part of the prep process?

I know that by law (at least here in CT) they have to give it to you but I certainly don't expect it still attached to the window!

I think wargor means the dealer emblem that some dealers stick on the back of your car. Some dealers just attach the license plate frame.

I agree with reloaded. Use a hair dryer. Take your time. Do not use a razor blade.

If the dealer is close, take it to them. That way if the paint is damaged its not your fault.

If you insist on doing it yourself, use the hairdryer and string/dental floss to pry it up from the back and goo-gone to remove the residue.

OK, I am going to be nice but there was a thread on this before. If you have not taken delivery of the vehicle you can request that the dealer does not put it on. If you have taken delivery, go to Pep Boys, they have products to remove stickers on vehicles. Personally I told my dealer in no uncertain terms if they put a sticker I would not take delivery. I told them when I made the deal, when I signed the paperwork, when they called me to say it was in. The first thing I did when I went to pick it up was go look at the back to see.....Do you think I feel strongly about this?!?!?!

^^ You don't need to go to pep boys or anywhere to buy products to take off these emblems/decals. Use a hair dryer, fingers, rubbing alcohol, wax..and you should be set. All of these are items you should have in your house.

I do the same thing. I will not take delivery if they do not take their obnoxious advertising off my car.

Nope, they are talking about those dealer name plaques that are sometimes applied to trunk lids for advertising purposes. I think dealers have a lot of nerve putting them on.

Uh-huh.

I have told mine that if that thing is on my car, or even if theyput a dealer license plate bracket, I am walking away from the sale - it is amazing what can be accomplished when big money is on the line. I did hjave one nimrod wo told me that, like the ghastly "processing fees", the dealer trunk lid plate is non-negotiable - I walked out.

On used cars I have bought that had them, i just soaked it in mineralpirits to loosen it, then used the Honda trim tool kit to pry them off, or floss to saw them off, with perhaps some hair dryer heat to speed the process. Between the 3, all of them have bent to my will.

removing sticky adhesives

Use WD-40, this will remove all types of adhesive and not hurt the paint.

I think that may be an urban legend. If a dealer balks at removing it, do as Mr Rage suggests, just walk away. They will cave, guaranteed.
