Remove underhood liner/insulation bad for paint?
Remove underhood liner/insulation bad for paint?
I've searched this topic and found old threads, but no one had their liner removed for over a year. Now that it's been a few years for those of you who have removed the liner, is your paint still ok?
I just removed my liner when I removed all the plastic engine covers last night. I like how I can hear the engine a little more now, but I don't want to sacrifice the paint on the hood.

the liner underneath the hood is actually a fire retardant material used to smother "fires" underneath the hood.
and is no way connected to "bad paint" due to heat.
I've had mine off for 3 years now.

The paint on the hood of the car is going to get pretty hot even with that insulation there! As posted above the reason it's there is to help smother fires! A few members have taken them off to reduce weight, etc, etc....
