Removal of resonator between throttle body and air filter box

Has anyone done this before? I searched and use the "site:tl.acurazine.com" Google operator and nothing came up.

Going to be doing the intake resonator delete today and all of the old pics have expired hosts!

easy peazy.

the front bumper will have to come off. there is a DIY if you are not comfortable.

once you get to this point, you'll see the resonator on the drivers side.
there are two or three bolts holding the resonator to the frame.
Unbolt these.
then there is a rubber coupling connecting it to the filter housing.
just wiggle it off now.

now, there is tubing connecting from the battery area to going underneath. you'll have to wiggle this out from the bottom.

What I did, was cut the straight piece off of the resonator.
and used it as an extension so that I could use the factory velocity stack.

Ahhh yes sir, however, I am not talking about the intake resonator. There is ANOTHER resonator that is between the throttle body and the air filter box. this is separate from the intake resonator.

Or maybe I'm wrong?

Word, Justin. Thanks!

Btw, did you notice a difference in sound? Really the sole reason that I am doing this mod. Performance wise, my care is entirely stock aside from fluids/pressure switches. RV6 V3 Jpipe is on its way this week.

I really really thought it would be louder.

then again, I have PCD's and Jpipe. so, my RASP overwhelms most sounds.

Yeah and if you want you can cut the tube up a little and put a round filter on it.

I thought it would be louder also, but it does have the little chirp when you shut the car off.

Enjoy, read this:

The damage :(

Previous owners must have had a little fender bender.

I was able to get vice grips on the clips, but the bolts broke off inside anyways. That's how absurdly rusty they were.

Damn that sucks. Should be a relatively easy fix though.

Some cars did have that little "arm" between TB and air box but ours do not. Just the resonator box behind bumper and the arm that comes back up into the engine bay. You can actually construct an air passage by driver side fog light to help direct air from front of the car towards the intake where the box was.
