Removal of the OE Woodgrain/CF Trim?

Well, I'll spare the details, but I was happy as a pig in poo about recieving my CF overlay kit, and, of friggin' course, the kit is UNDERSIZED on the woodgrain overlay portions, leaving me with a very slight, but extremely noticeable little "peekaboo" of the stupid OE trim. SO, I am going to have to paint the OE wood black to truly rid myself of the eyesore, whatever.

Does anyone know how to remove this trim, or am I going to be diving in to this on my own?

Thought about it, but for whatever reason, it's just not my cup 'o tea.

I might just live with it for the doors. As far as the center console is concerned, I am just going to pop the whole assembly out to remove the doors from the hinges and fire away.

By chance do you have pics? I've thought about this kit in the past. Also, did you get it from EBAY?

Thanks!

Absolutely not Fleabay, this was NOT a cheap-o kit. I'm going to give the vendor the benefit of the doubt for the time being and work with them to resolve the issue before divulging any further information, be it in either a positive or negative light...although I sincerely hope this to be a case of the former, not the latter.

DM, I hate to say this, but I don't think you're going to get the Carbon Fiber pieces off. Once they're on-they're on.

I can vouch for the authenticity of your carbon fiber kit. It a good kit. I'm just sorry that you have woodgrain underneath that you can see on the edges.

for the doors I believe you have to take the door panel off and disassemble it to get to the pieces. For the center console the CF on the gear shifter lifts up easily. As far as the upper compartments, you are going to need to take out the center console to get to those, then take the compartments out and you can paint it then. Check out the 3G garage on how to take it apart

Some wood WILL be visible. Like csmenace said, the middle console is relatively easy to get to, the doors are a freaking PITA. After remove the doors, remove the 8-12 screws or so, remove the retainer clip, lift the panel out and off, tape, paint, reinstall.

All said and told it was about a 6 hour job to get it perfect.

Can you remove the wood grain panel from the metal trim, and replace with the carbon oem panel?
