Removal of HID bulbs?
Oppps,
They won't let you post links to other Acura forums. I didn't know that.
The thread was talking about removing the ID bulb on a 2004 TL without removing the bumper or light housing.
I don't think it can be done but one person claims they already did it.

If you only talk about removing the HID D2S bulb, I'm not sure if that's possible to do so without removing your bumper.
Anyone has done this?
We have really tight engine bay. Without removing other parts in the front or without taking off the bumper, I wonder how this work would be done. I hope someone could show me the clearer directions. Thanks.

rets and I talked this over at length today.
After reading the service manual, I went out to look at the car. On the driver's side, I can't see the headlight bulb at all. You would have to take out the battery, the battery tray, and then I don't know what you would find. The passenger's side you can actually put your hand in and feel the cover, but if you never took it off you would have a hard time getting the torx screw off, and an even harder time getting it back on. And I am not sure that the cover is small enough to come through the opening to allow access to the bulb.
It is possible that a mechanic who does this all the time might be able to do it on the car, but the average DIY would have great difficulty, if it was even possible.
I would think that if there was a way to replace the bulb without removing the bumper, Acura would have put it in their service manual, since the labor saved would result in greatly reduced warranty reimbursements.

Well!
I am installing my 10,000k's this weekend if the hurricane doesn’t hit. I think it will, sooooo maybe next week sometime.
I will be taking off the bumper. I am going to put my stock airbox in anyway. Two birds with 1 stone.
Thanks for helping out Ron and Rets!

to remove the hid bulb you have to remove the bumper and headlamp housing. once the housing is removed there is a cover with a tamperproof screw protecting the bulb which also has to be removed..

1. remove the bumper
2. and then the headlight
3. and then the cover
to replace the bulb.
Actually, the tamper proof screw is just a common torx-20 bolt, removed with a torx-20 bit.
