previous owner had the front pads changed on Jan of 07 had about 25k miles on it. I'm at 44k miles. I don't think the rears have ever been changed. They actually look like they've got another 8k+ miles but this is my first TL. BTW my honda prelude went 80k before changing pads (I coast a lot and drive pretty efficiiently).

My stock rears I JUST changed after 75K miles. Can't believe they lasted that long. Now I got the rotora drilled+slotted fronts and rears from excelerate w/ the rotora ceramic pads.

Less brake dust, better stopping.

thanks, but I don't think I need better brakes. These literally stop on a dime, tons of brake dust though. My front rims are always dirty.

I'm at 38K on my 05, 6MT.

Started to hit the squeal indicators occasionally a few weeks ago on the OE pads. Now it's about every time I brake. I have new RB pads and rotors on the way.

Almost made it to 40K lol.

My best guess would have been close to 60,000 miles out of my original pads on my '04 manual, but I replaced them at 25,500 miles because I hated all of the dusting. I still have my original pads in my garage with plenty of meat on them.

A next door neighbor has an '05 manual with over 80,000 miles on his original factory pads. Granted, his commute is nearly all super highway, but still.. that is pretty high mileage.

I just recently changed my pads out since one was hitting the squeal indicators. I pulled them off and if I pulled them off I still had a bit of meat on them that would have lasted a bit longer.

I changed my front pads at 28k due to dusting to Hawk HPS. I just changed pads and rotors yesterday at 90k on my '04 TL 6MT. All pads need a change, the front rotors could have been turned and the rear rotors looked great, yet I replaced all four rotors with Brembos, slotted for the front (Tirerack had a sale) plain on the rear.

On a side note, don't go to "brakewarehouse.com," tirerack is cheaper and has the best service. Autobarn sent me the wrong size rotors for the front, lesson learned, check all part numbers before installation!!! Had to reinstall the old stuff. lol...

to cut down dust- wash the wheels on both sides of rim, and wax with 3 coats of synthetic car wax- scorching hot brake pad particles cant adhere very well to that!

On the TL 50-60K miles on rears is normal and may only need pads-
the fronts do 70% of the braking and do need immediate changing when ever the squeeler tabs hit
Despite the alleged `meat left`- its down to 2mm pad- min allowable, they dont shed heat well and make the pistons extend farther than they like to at that point'
Note the squeeler tab works by pushing a metal arm into the rotor to make noise- you only hear it at slow speed but it is damaging the rotor face- requires resurface then--a brilliant plan on the automakers part

It ain't alleged, brother, there's plenty of material left on my original pads in a box in my garage. And under normal maintenance, I change my pads before they reach the indicator (i.e. squealer tab).

As a side note, the OEM pads shipped with the Brembo setup are quite good. If it wasn't for the dusting, I would have stayed with them as they are predictable and effective stoppers.
