I would like to change the lights located on the front to be red so how can i do that?? buying the bulb?? i think the ones on the front are white...

 

The ones in the front are yellow, and you cannot just change the bulb as they are LED's. If you search for sidemarker mods or in the 3G Garage, you'll find instructions somewhere on making them white instead of yellow. I suppose you can do the same, but using a PCD board with red LED's.

by federal law is how the lights are colored white or yellow in front, yellow or red in back sides
On side if you have red in front- it looks like the rear of the car-
as far as other drivers telling your direction of travel

 

Most vehicles on the road don't have side markers so why would it make a difference...
he would still have the amber from the headlights. Given he hasn't modded them yet.

 

as more cars now comply with the international standard on side lighting and turn signals on the side of the car, you dont want to confuse which end of the car is which- its about being able to determine direction of travel

ever come up on someone with reverse lights stuck on- cant tell if they are really coming at you or not till very close
Same for the side- color tips the mind to direction
Its the reason boats and airplanes have red and green end lights and white tail

You see on semi trucks- the white stripe is supposed to be the leader with red behind..all down the length-- so you can tell if its crossing your path or clearing from it

I'm pretty sure when people see the TL's xenon lights glaring at them, they know its the front.

 

While this may be true, we don't get to choose whether it OK or not. It MIGHT be illegal where the OP lives. If it is illegal, well, then it just is and a bunch of guys on a car forum posting abut it won't make any difference.

The OP needs to know what his local/state vehicle laws say about this, then make an informed decision as to whether to do this mod or not. If he does do the mod and it is illegal where he lives, he has to accept that he might get hassled by .

Same as tint too dark or removing your 3rd cat or speeding or whatever. "You do the crime, you do the time".

 

bear- I believe that all lighting and other type car regs are direct from the FEDs, safety standards and all - DOT stamp required on all lighting parts- lens etc would indicate so

example- headlights must be 24 inches above ground (gets lowered hondas a ticket)

recently this issue came up in gen2 and fed law says what color is allowed where
on the front/rear or side
on the fender is where we mean for this red light in front- correct?
you want yellow there so oncoming traffic can see thats your nose

side t/s lights are really for places with round-abouts instead of stop signs, something the usa is converting to slowly, then you will appreciate seeing where the other guy is planning to turn out of the circle

maybe some day we will all learn the metric system too!
