^^This is very good info bro!! I heard Amsoil as being one of the best out there? My cousin got his 0-20 or 0-30 for like about $8/Quart!...

Anybody hear good things about Amsoil oil filters?

If you use the Amsoil 0W-30 ($7.65/qt) & EA013 filter combination like I do, then it is good for 25K or 1yr, whichever is less!! That's damn good! I drive less than 16K a year, so no prob! My next oil change is in January playa!!

Since it's 0-30, isn't it really thin and burns faster? 25k/1 year?? iono bro.. can u really rely on that?? U should def. send it in to Blackstone Labs after.

I've been using K&N; it's supposed to be one of the best. You can easily find them online. If you are in fact going to change your oil often, it probably would be a waste to spend the extra money on synthetic oil. Any name brand oil (I'd stick with the recommended viscosity), with a Honda filter (or equivalent), and you'll be all set.

I am not sure what all the anguish is about in getting filters & oil so you can do an oil change. The car costs $30,000+ & there is just about nothing you can't buy for a oil change that isn't covered by $30.

Based on the cost of the car $30 bucks, less then a tank of gas, is just chump change.

Not a bad point.

I don't think I would go 25K, but there are guys that go 10K to 17K left and right in here! I only average about 13-16K a year, so a year is no prob! It's the idea of going a year that has you spooked huh? But if I go 13K miles in a year, that makes a big diff from someone doubling that because that is more wear than what I am doing. Like Xpiditor...he has a TL with less than 10K (I think it still is, slacker! ). If he was using synthetic, he would not have had to change it in less than a year.

Plus, I don't drive like a bat out of hell, well, not a lot.

its only a "crush" washer if it crushes...the washer on the drain plug is NOT a crush washer, its a totally reuseable washer...period!! replace it if you want, but its not necessary reguardless of what the manual states....

That's why I used " ".

Anyhow, they are like $0.12 each. $7.50 for the filter, $20 for the oil; 4 tenths of 1% of the cost for a new washer.

So if the manual says, "replace the 12 cent washer", then why not? And if you decide to replace it, might as well buy 'em when you buy the filters.

I've gotten to 357K miles / 18 years using NAPA 5W-20 Full Synthetic which I understand is Penzoil Platinum in a NAPA package and a Mobil1 M104 or WIX Platinum 51334XP Oil filter which has a larger internal surface area than the M110 prescribed for our cars. Though I admit I do occasionally buy Mobil1 oil when Costco has it on sale at 6 qts for around $27.

Happy motoring folks from probably the longest surviving 3G TL on here!!!

I'm currently using Mobil 1 AFE 0W-20 in my Accord J30A5 V6. In the future I may switch to Pennzoil Platinum Ultra 0W-20 if the great rebates continue in the future.

Both oils are a great value when purchased during the bi-annual rebates and when combined with Walmart spring/fall sales. I mean, you could pay more, but you'll never see or notice any meaningful difference in performance or longevity.

FWIW, I have the J30A4, I've been using Penzoil Platinum 5W-20 with oil changes every 7500 miles since I got the car with just under 75,000 miles. I'm currently at 292,993 miles. In between oil changes I maybe use 1/3rd of a quart.

Also for what it’s worth, I’ve used Supertech full synthetic from Walmart and didn’t notice a difference from STP, Pennzoil, Napa, and other name brands in terms of burning oil. I always bought whatever name brand was on sale from the store and the tried supertech because it was the cheapest lol. I used it for pretty all my oil changes on both of my cars after I saw that it was fine (2011 RDX and 07 Accord at the time) I will say supertech filters kind of suck. They are made of cheap material and tend to be harder to get off when changing the oil.

I know this forum is kinda for car enthusiasts, but realistically, if you change your oil when you're supposed to, and use the right weight, would you notice ANY difference and would there be ANY short or long term effect on your car no matter WHICH type of oil, which brand, or which compatibly sized filter you used?

If I drained your super pricey full synthetic oil tonight, and filled your rig with the cheapest-ass regular oil I could find of the correct weight (assuming your car allows it), and swapped out your fifty dollar filter with a fifty cent filter (well okay, you know what I mean), when you hopped in and took off tomorrow morning, would you have ANY CLUE?

If so, please explain to me what difference it would make, and how you could tell. I'm not saying it makes no difference, I just want someone to explain to me how and why it would or could.
