Recommendations: DIY Easy Modifications?

Hey Acurazine!

I've had my '07 KBP Type-S for about 3 years now, but I'm completely new to this forum. Decided that it was time to finally join.

I was wondering if anyone had any easy/cheap/useful DIY modification ideas that I can take on? I'm a broke college student, so I probably can't spend more than $100 a project.

So far what I have done:
- Tints
- Navihack Welcome Screen
- Plasti Dip Emblems/Grille
- Blue LED Rear Dome Lights/Door Lights

About to do:
- 8k HID Headlights
- 6k HID Foglights
- Full Blue LED Interior Lights

Want to do ():
- CAI (Probably AEM)
- Blue Lug Nuts

PICTURES SOON.

LED's are a great start. Fairly cheap and they look great. Just don't do LED reverse lights.

And...

I wanna see KBP!!

Is there a reason why I shouldn't get LED Reverse Lights? I was actually going to get them... and PICS ARE ON THE WAY! I need to find a working camera...

LED reverse lights are not bright enough. I had them and so hard to see at night especially since i have tints. switched over to PIAA bulbs and makes a whole lotta difference

Sounds good to me! It's less than $20. Aha! Is the link the right size? I'm too lazy to go research and find out what size the reverse lights are...

umm you might not wanna get 8000K headlights....i would stick with 6000K (max)....as the Kelvin goes up the light output (lumens) go down....so you wont be able to see much with 8000K....

as your headlights are the main source of light i would get 6000K.....

I do have 8000K lower fogs, just for the looks....but my headlights are 6000K

Please don't do the 8k HID bulbs, they are rice and will lower your light output. As for blue lug nuts, not my thing but whatever floats your boat!

As far as easy DIY goes, I would do this:
http://www.lamin-x.com/Acura-TL-07-0...rs-p/ac506.htm

You don't really get anything out of it looks wise but it'll protect your headlights from turning cloudy and protect your fog lights from cracking.

I disagree about the reverse LEDs, CREE's are insanely bright, only thing is if you have a backup camera it might be a little washed out. I'll post a pic of them from my old car, I have some on order for the TL.

If you want just a little noise, stage 3 exhaust or just mid muffler delete. Deleting my mufflers this weekend.

I was considering that, but I wasn't sure if any of those were CARB legal. If not the AEM, I've actually considered a Weapon R Intake. Thoughts?

Yeah, I read about that a good amount. Two of my friends who have TL's both have 8k headlights and after test-driving around with them, I really like them compared to the stock. I figured with the 6k fogs, it might do some justice. Ultimately for me, the 8k headlights are a definite.

I like the Headlight Covers! Kind of out of my price range though just for covers... I've been considering Black or Blue Lug nuts as well. Considerations?

I actually really like the spoiler and am going to take the risk with theft. I had my "Type-S" emblem stolen in high school, so if it does get stolen, oh wells. I really want to get some Door Visors as well; however, as of the moment, I'm 50/50.

Does anyone know what I need to lower the car and how much it'll cost me about? I also have damaged paint and ripped window water guards. How do I repair those?

ehh.. I would stay with stock nuts, but that's just me. I'm kind of vanilla like that. As far as the headlight covers go, consider it an investment to keep your headlights looking new and keep them from getting scratched/rock damage.

This is probably the best advice on here. Sounds to me as though you have no plan in mind other than, "I have some liquidity, how do I blow it with no realistic endpoint?" Are you going for performance? Looks? Lighting?

The double-edged sword of the TL is that there's a plethora of aftermarket support, but that lends itself to opportunists and enthusiasts alike, so you'll find some good, but MUCH bad. I've done just about every mod under the sun myself, so I'll lend my $0.02, but, and I mean this constructively, you really need to put a plan together as some mods (i.e. drop) will require additional funding to ensure operational integrity (i.e. too low means you'll need camber kit(s), alignment, etc.)

And if you have OE items of functional worth that are not to spec, i.e. your seals, FIX THOSE FIRST, for the love of all that is Holy.

Of those mentioned...

Tints = no brainer
8K HIDs = Only if you're going with Kaixen
CREE Backup or HID = Improves safety, no brainer
CAI = I have some fine Enron stock I'd like to sell you
RSB = No brainer as all suppliers are proven
Lugnuts = You know the difference btw ball and acorn seats, right?
Switchbacks = LOL, my dong has more reliability after a 12-pack
Headlight Covers = Jesus kills a kitten. Several of them. In kindergarten. With fire.
Drop = Tein or A-Spec; reliability is simply not up to par by comparison
