Rear passenger temps
#7
Somebody answered the same question a few days ago and said the driver's side setting is used for the rear ducts.
It was in this thread http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96370
And guess what. You are the one who wrote both threads. I am going to merge them together.

With the temperature losses because of the long plenum (ever notice that the console gets quite cool in summer, and warm in winter?), that driver's temp is likely many degrees different by the time it hits those poor, non seat-warmed stooges in the back.
Does anyone know if there are heater outlets at floor height on the TL? My old one had some cutouts to help warm the feet of ther rear passengers, but I have not tried driving from the back seat, although other maneuvers have been successfully accomplished.

There are heater outlets under the seat, next to the hump on both sides. If you test, be sure and put the mode selection with the arrow pointing down, and you can feel the air coming through. If you leave it on auto, it stays in the normal auto mode of air coming from the dash vents and the console vent only.
It may divert air down if you leave the heater on long enough and it senses the temperature below is lower, but I am not sure of that, and I don't think there are any temperature sensors down there.

Ron - you da man - thx! Another reason i seldom use the AUTO mode. It is not only inefficient, but just plain dumb in this case - everyone knows that in winter, your body follows your feet. Warm feet = comfort.
