Rear/front pads question (TL with 6MT)

Hello, I have a 2006 TL with 6MT. I need to replace my front breaks (either with OEM brake pads or Hawks, I didn't decide yet). At about 23K miles, do I need to replace the rears as well. Do the 6MT rear pads are the same as the automatic cars pads? What's the best place to buy?

no, you do not need to replace the rears as they do not provide the majority of your braking power as the fronts (FWD). that is unless the rears are worn as well. and yes, i believe the rear pad/brake set up is the same as the AT. only our front brembos are different. the rear pads can last a while depending on how you drive. lots of hwy...less brake wear...lots of city and stop/go ...increased brake wear.

for your fronts, i would go with aftermarket ie hawk HPS pads or other as they will more than likely dust a hell of a lot less than OEM. i have the hawk HPS pads on my 05 on the front with the stock rotors. they stop as well as the OEM (though its been a while since i swapped mine so my memory is a little fuzzy as to the performance of the stock pads) and the dusting is sginficantly less. instead of dusting in a day...it takes about a week to notice the dust on your wheels. now if you don't really care about the dust...then go with whatever you want to spend your money on. there are many an option and places to purchase pads, your local autozone or advanced, tirerack, dealer, mr. heeltoe, excelerate....you've been a member here a while...so ill let you do your homework on what will work best for your budget, driving style, and whatever other needs. the hawk pads will be cheaper than OEM from the dealer, but you maybe able to get OEM pads for less from the internet OEM acura parts dealers. good luck.

oem pads will be ~$160 cheapest for new ones from online dealers. hawks can be had for a bit more than half that price.

nothing beats oem in performance though, but hawks will come close.

Nothing beats the OEM pads for dusting up your wheels either, no other pads even come close.
