Rear Deck

I took my TL into the dealer today for two things: have the hood alignment adjusted and to fix the rear deck behind the rear seats.

When looking through the rearview mirror, I noticed that the rear center speaker looked tilted or slanted. Upon further inspection, I found that one side of the deck was higher (or had more padding) than the other side. They're trying to tell me this is normal based on what they're finding on other TLs on the lot.

Anyone else notice this or are your decks all flat and level?

Geez, I can't believe no one has any comments on this one or the other. Anyone?

Just went out in the garage and looked thru the back window. My back deck looks fine. Nothing obvious anyway. Light out there isnt the greatest. If anything noticed tomorrow in sunlight I will let ya know

Make sure you look at it through your rearview mirror. It's easier to spot then by just looking at it.

Hacksaw, our cars are nearly twins on the assembly line both being DPG/Parch and vins off by 2. I had the Nav voice problem that was fixed, but I do not see any alignment problems with hood or rear deck. Could be I need to get my glass presription changed.

I do have a broken driver seat back panel that is on order. It keeps coming loose at the bottom and the clamp is broken.

These are the only two faults I can find, aside from the leather seat issue which everyone seems to have. The NAV voice seems to work fine in mine. No problem with the driver seat back panel either.

I met with the Service Manager yesterday. We examined all of the TLs on the lot. We only found one that had a flat deck. Every other TL exhibited some sort deformity with the drivers side being higher than the paasenger side. Since we found the one that was flat, he is ordering another deck to install.

Hacksaw,

Just saw this thread today.

Let me know what you find, I have noticed this before, but just thought it was my imagination, never did a close examination on it, just through the mirror I could see the sub grill slightly tilted.

Let us know what happens, mine is in the 1600's. I also have a twin within a few digits, he does not have any of the issues I have had, kind of strange?

Mine looks slanted as well. It's not that bad, so I am gonna let it go.

I noticed that slant too, but only when I look through the rear-view mirror. Thought it was just my imagination! Not sure I'm worried enough about it to go through the hassle of a replacement though.

After reading this, I checked mine (car's less than a week old), and it's definitely slanted up on the driver's side. Now it really bugs me--gee, thanks! I think I'll see if our dealer can fix it.

Has yours been fixed yet? How did it turn out?

The new part just arrived at the dealer. I go in on Wednesday. I'll post the results.

Are all of you guys with the problem getting it replaced? What do you tell them? Maybe in the process of getting it replaced you can tell them to put some padding so the rear deck doesn't rattle during high bass output.

Okay I picked up the TL today with the new rear deck and it looks great. It's flat and level like it should be. If yours looks bad, get it fixed since it's under warranty. The fault must lie with whomever installed it at the factory. Doesn't say a lot for the quality control before it leaves the factory.

BTW - the loaner they gave me was a TSX. I must say that it's a zippy little car. I really enjoyed driving it. Got plenty of get-up-and-go.

My build # is 10,033 and my rear deck is really warped so I am having them replace it. On darker interiors you will not notice it as much however, with parchment or camel you will see it and it looks bad! Other than this my car is perfect and no problems...

I must blessed with one of the few flawless TL's since everybody else seems to have a worthless early production nightmare! BTW my VIN is in the 2500s! Wait ! let me go get a microscope I might find a flaw in the plastc surrounding my up window button!!!! Shoot no deal!, that was perfect too! Thank god I'm not a dealer, if I were I would very possibly shoot some of the ninnies around here!!!!

I know no car is perfect but some people around here need a life. They will write a whole book in the speaker cover that is off by 2mm! It just demonstrates an immature, can't be satisfied with anything personality. In the last 20 years I've had numerous cars. I can confidently say this has been by far the best built vehicle I have owned or seen. This vibration thing for example, is ninny thing. Yes my car had a slight shudder when new. After the first hundred miles it was gone. Some posters here have the spoiled behavior of running to the dealer everytime the car goes squeek, its pretty silly. It's good to hear about major problems tranny, engine and so on but its very tiring to read whining about silly fit and finish issues any car will have and which have no bearing on the auto's overall quality. Ive had mercedes, volvos audis and bimmers none of which has been even close to this car's fit and finish. Therefore as far as luxury cars go this one is pretty high up on the totem pole of quality.

Good for you. The fact that your car doesn't have the problem doesn't make the problem with my car imaginary. Your Acura cheerleading is not helpful.

I've had the 50mph+ vibration (on my car it starts at 50 and doesn't go away; I've had it only to about 75mph or so though) for the full 1000 miles I've got on the car, and it's still there even after 3 dealer attempts to fix.

The dealer agrees its a problem, but after three attempts to fix it is stumped and waiting for Acura to tell them what to do.

Mike

vtechbrain, I remember you're almost the first one to have 6spd TL... and, your Vin is just about 2500? So that only means Acura starts to produce manual model as early as October... however, most of dealers start to sell this around the end of Nov...
