rear Brembos?

Is it mechanically possible to change the stock rear brakes to Bremo's like the front brakes? (assuming the dealer would sell you the parts and do the warranty)?

I've read that the TL has longer braking distances than comparative cars (G35, etc.), and thought maybe rear Brembos would help out

Has anyone given this any thought?

Rears only contribute to 15% of a cars stopping power. Bigger front brembos and stickier tire would be the solution.

Agreed. And better pads.

since the dealer will only carry the fronts, they probably won't be able to help you. take a look at brakes up at the top of the screen because they have brakes for the rear that would help.

That's true too. Pads are very important, like the A-Spec kit coming with new non-MT HP pads. Anything to help dissapate the heat helps too. Doing just a little tinwork, fabbing up break ducts in the front vents would make a big difference if you routinely beat your brakes (like have a hilly commute etc).

don't waste money on the rear brakes, it won't help braking performance that much. just get a set of sticky tires and breaking will improve.

Ronin, where have you read this? I don't know about other sources, but in the most recent C&D comparo ($35K Sports Sedans) the TL beat the competition in stopping distance (the TL tested did have the HPT's):

Braking Distance (ft) 70-0 mph

TL - 160
G35 - 164
IS300 - 167
325i - 172
X-type 3.0 - 175
A4 3.0 - 183
9-3 Arc - 185

At least this is a same driver/same day/same surface comparison.

hmmm i read the C&D website and you're right , Peter

but I saw this review on TV (I had thought it was C&D) on Speed channel and they said TL had the worst stopping distance, by like 30 or 40 feet difference

maybe they were testing an auto without Brembos?
