The Real News on the 2004 TL
This is the real on the 2004 Acura TL. Just a little info but absolutely credible. My source is Keith Duncan of Hall Acura of Newport News, VA. Keith Duncan is one of Acura's Top Sales Reps in the country no BS made up story. Its safe to say that he might just no what's going on . Here it is.
1. There are no Brembo Brakes. BS
2. There are no 19 inch rims. More BS
3. There are side view mirrors. No Cameras that is even more BS
4. There are no windshield wipers. True
Why? Keith simply told me that Acura does not want to run into the same problem as the BMW 745LI. What he meant was basically you have to have a masters degree just to be able to work most of the controls, Plus the price point of a TL would surpass the RL, and the TL wouldn't sell just like the RL doesn't sell even as nice as it is. This info is real. This is not from your John Q sales Rep that has had one good selling month and he thinks he/she thinks their the one. This is a Sales rep that has been with Acura since the start. I will update this tommorrow with more details. I have to go back to Acura tomorrow

I'm not here to flame this post or anything but my opinion is that unless Acura has come out and said that information can be released (which if they did, i would think we all would know), an Acura sales rep (whether they are number one or 300 in teh country) who wants to keep their job isn't going around talking about the new TL or releasing information.
Maybe Acura has given people the "go ahead" to be able to talk about the specs and information on the new model, but if they haven't, I doubt this guy would be opening his mouth with his job on the line.
Just my thoughts, but I know just as little as anyone.

The truth seems to change a lot.
As for the air jets instead of wipers, I to this day love the concept, but have one question.
If your car is parked and a bird takes a crap on the windshield and it bakes in the sun for three hours, how do you get it off, outside of Windex and a paper towel?

I still think the car will get standard wipers.
If they put that into production the first thing its going to need is some kind of federal approval. Second, inspection stations are going to need to know how to test them for proper operation. And finally they better be quiet. I sure don't want to listen to air blowing around while I'm driving 45 minutes to work.

yeah, and how powerful are the air if it's quiet? cause it will take some powerful stuff to blow off snow and heavy rain. i just think that idea is kinda stupid.

A rep will not lose there job due to giving some info on the TL. its not like he gave me the horsepower, torque, length, or any other key specs. i asked him some questions he answered. as for the credibility. who do u think might be more credible in the Acura line your sales rep. or one of the top in the USA for Acura. It might be safe to say that they might share some info to there most prestigious employees. its not like he gave me a brochure or something

why are we going to believe a sales rep? arent these the same people that we complain about on this web site about how they dont know jack shiet????
i'm not one to give a crap about speculation...the TL will be out in the fall so until then, i really dont care to speculate what it has and doesnt have...its only a few months away.

Time to POWER UP!!
I work for Acura also and the only people that know what the production TL will have will be the engineers. Once Acura releases the info the the General managers then the sale force will know.. Until then "its all speculation"...

One of the wonderful things living in North America is that you can sue anyone for whatever he said.

The air jet idea is ok if is combined with somekind of special NON STICK windshield where stuff exactly like bird crap and those really hard hit insects just hit and slide off.
If there is nothing like that than how in the hell do you get rid of that really thick bug residue. Air jets will not be on the new car.
We'll see the side view mirror less cars before we see air jets.

Or they can make the air jets super strong such that no "$hit" won't being blown away, and run into liability trouble if the jet switch is accidently pressed when someone's hand is close to the windshield and getting injured.

Yep, no way the air pressure wipers make it on the production car. Too expensive and not practical enough. As some have already pointed out, bird droppings can be an issue, but so can mud, etc. Not to mention if you've ever driven in New England in the winter when the road is wet with slush and you follow a car, the gunk thrown up has to be wiped away. No way it would get cleared enough with just high pressure air. Same is true with wet snow and frost. Believe me, I think they'd be cool to have but you won't see it.

Thanks for the last few posts. I'd love to be wrong, but I cannot come up with any practical reason to have the jets, I'd much rather have the car retain the 19" wheels and the Brembo brakes!

What the guy says is not bs... I have spoken with a very reputable guy who works at the Marysville plant and he confirmed their are no wipers. He also told me it will sticker for 32k and they will be coming out with a 2 door calling it the gsx . I repeat the guy works where the tl comes from. He told me the car was bad as hell and is pretty much gonna blow the doors off anything.

The tl will be 31 to 32k believe it. Look at all the cars in the tl market. 28k for a maxima 32 to 36 for es300 30K for a I35. Acura could not price the tl for 35 to 36k. The tsx loaded is just barely at 30k, I am looking forward to dumping my UNRELIABLE gs300 as soon as the 04 tl comes out.

One would think that they should be in production if they are slated to hit the showrooms some time this fall. Chowan, I hate to disagree with you but, what even moderately equipped 5 series can you get for 40 grand. I too would not pay 40 large for a TL as it is presently constituted, but as emumessenger stated, I would not pay 40 for a comparable 3 series either.
