I think most of us would like to have a 5 series instead of the TL, but if you spec out a 525i, with the same level of equipment you are at $44,670 and that only gives you a cassette player and 16" wheels. If you add the 17" wheels, which require the sport package, you are going to be pushing $50k and only getting a 2.5 liter engine.

Besides, wouldn't we all want the 540i sport?

Long story short, for the extra $15k, I never thought I'd say this, but I'd keep my Type S, Navi.

first of all, i wouldnt consider the 525...test drove the car and it's slow as hell. you have to at least consider the 530. second, my friend owns a 2000 540i and the car drives hella nice. firm handling and great low-end torque. all i can say is, if i had the means, i WOULD get the 540i.

If the TL was getting air jets, I think we would have heard about it long before it ever went into production...don't believe everything you read, or hear second hand. Plus, a 2 door GSX? So I guess the TSX is will have it's own corporate competition? Whatever...

I believe the info I was given is correct. The guy would not bs me. The 2 door is supposed to be the replacement for the cl . It is supposed to be called the gsx. If this guys info is incorrect so be it. I was wrong ,but I have all faith in what he said is correct.

I am not disagreeing with anyone, but rumours, or second hand info is just that...

I will believe it when I go to www.acura.com and See the 2004TL

or If I go to the dealership and see no wipers...

Anyways for now we are just talking to make the anticipation bigger..

Also, "BLOW THE DOORS OFF OTHER CARS"

For under $40k It wont do much...

It will be nice, I will be getting it, but I think the guy that said that was a little overexaggerating

Anyways no hard feelings just my couple pennies

I know this has been beat to death, but i would like to ofeer the following:

I have an '02 TL-S. I was at the dealer where it was purchased speaking with their sales manager about trading my wife's 02 accord for a TSX. During those negotiations I brought up the 04 TL and was told the following as he had just returned from some acura informational car show (Acura reps only - sponsored by Acura/Honda).

- 280 to 300 hp, still 3.2 V-6
- IMB Blue Chip Technology (no idea how that helps me)
- Windshield wipers & outside mirrors
- 18" wheels & Brembo brakes (may be part of a package)
- Six speed manual tranny, however it may be a later production like the 6-speed was on the CL-S.
- allocations for September cars come out in July to the dealerships, which will be at the dealership late Sept/early Oct.

Does any of this really help us?
Who knows. I agree with a statement made by a memeber previously - "I will believe it when I read it on the Acura site or see it at the dealership."

Just my 2 cents.

When the guy told me the car is going to blow the doors off pretty much anything, he meant in any car in direct comp with the TL. He did not say this thing is going be able to mash out on a gt3 or anything. If you think about it their are not many cars out on the rd that can hang with a tls . Just think about it.

What is IMB Chip? The Immobilizer Chip?

Also I didn't know it will get Brembo Brakes? Also could someone tell me why everyone goes crazy over Brembo Brakes? Are they that good? WOW 18 in. Wheels!!

Anyways its just another info.. It counteracts with the other guy who said no 18 in or brembos, but also no wipers..

Anyways Keep the info coming, its still interesting

Why doesn't Acura take the RL 3.5 Engine, Fine TUNE IT, and get 280+ HP with tons of torque!

Just like Nissan does

Too much torque . . . for the front wheel drive car. There is no "rumours" or "that high ranking Acura guy told me" that the new TL would be a RWD or AWD car.

Brembo brakes, are generally larger than most others and offer good stopping capabilities and four piston calipers.

They are the "in" brakes to have, but are also well rated.

I would consider doing flips if the car had 18's and Brembo's.

Also the 18-19 in. rims dont make a performance difference do they?

I mean they are just for looks and show right, or do they actually give better handling or braking etc..

+1 sizing on rims usually gets you the best performance/handling. +2 and beyond are for show. sure, the lower profile tires will have thinner sidewalls, less sidewall flex but the improvement over +1 is negligible, and you have to start accounting for heavier rims due to the larger wheel size.

there are too many factors involved that affects handling/braking. most important factor obviously would be your tires.

That's a good one. Ha ... Ha.

As a rim get bigger and bigger, so is its weight. Unsprung weight is a major killer to accelerating performance. Since the rotating mass (rim/tire combo) becomes heavier, throttle response and acceleration time will suffer. However, the steering response is improved, and the car can carry more speed into corners. I really want to find out that what setup will give a faster track (with straights and corners) time -- +2 with more speed into corners, or +1 with faster exit-corner response and acceleration.

However, if the +2 rim is a mega $$ forged one, even lighter than the oem or +1 rim. It will conquer all.

I'll believe an Acura engineer, who has driven the concept car we all have seen who says Brembo, 6spd, 280hp etc... Over any damn sales rep. They may not be available right away, but they will be options or "future" years standard items.

Well have you seen the spyshots..

The blurry ones.. They only have outside pics but the guy who took the pics says:

"Camera sucked and the car was going extrememly fast. (Camera phone 3650) They were definately testing it out for sure. Yes. NAVI screen looks huge. It's hard not to look at when you're driving by it. I got some good looks of the car but a lot of the pics were blurry and disfigured.

It does have a long crease running down. The front end looks like the TSX. The emblems had tape over them."

Far as he says, The NAVI Screen will be Huge, Around 8 In.

Yes they do. Large rim suck power with their greater rotational inertia. Ever wonder why F1 cars use 13" wheels?

Looks like XM Satilite Radio will be STD in the TL 2004. (RL too)
Don't know, if like, OnStar they'll include a year for free. They'd be wise to do that. When I find the item I read I'll link it.

The first three months of XM will be free, assuming it is the same as the RL.

Infiniti only gives the first two months free, but gives a choice of XM or Sirius.

The RL replacement will most likely have an iDrive type system. Jog dial was on it's console. It would be nice for the TL to have it too.

But the thing I wonder is, If you dont renew your subscription of XM than u just have a Free XM Receiver Lying around in your car?

Like they just include a separate receiver, or is it built in with the radio..?

if the tl does have an "i-drive" like system, it'll probably be a lot better than the bmw one.

it's like everything else. The german makes put all this "new" stuff into their cars, yet the japanese makes always make them more user friendly. the german makes can't even make the in-dash cd changer right yet (most are still in the glvoe box or trunk), while most japanese makes have this as an option or standard, even on entry level cars.
