Thumbs down Re: Was reading that gas might go up to 3 a gallon...

how much do you get now in your area? I thought West coast has higher price, and the south has lower...

We got 1.8-2.5 for 93 now...

3 bucks a gallon? Where did you read that? Then I cannot drive my TL to the mail box down the driveway.

No, maybe driving your TL to the mailbox is ALL you'll be able to afford. Forget about any long distance trips.

Here around Philly the gas varies from around 1.68~1.70 in Reading to about 1.80~1.9? Other metro areas.

This is pretty pathetic in that Alaska alone generates like 50% of the US's take in. The other juice is sold to other countries. Send it all here.

This will never happen though because the Gas companies all have agreed upon monopolies. We are all going to suffer at the hands of these greedy bastards. And there's nothing you can do about it because there's really no competition to the Dino Juice.

One thing you can be certain of at ALL times is that the oil companies will ALWAYS do better whenever the prices rise or drop quickly. They play the buyers against the sellers and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS (Did I say always) come out on the winning side (Since they are the ones who set the prices). Looks like time to buy Oil Stocks.

Here is a speculation on future gas prices.

http://www.lundbergsurvey.com/

As for high gas prices? You can 1) move to another country which has much higher prices or 2) buy stock in oil companies. Stop your complaining - this is a capitalist market, not a socialist country - the oil companies have their rights to answer to their investors just like the car companies, grocery chains and any other free market corporations. If you really want to complain, just try WALKING to your rally.

You guys have it easy. Northern California -- anywhere from $2.20 - $2.50 per gallon for 91 gas.

Yes, they have it easy. While driving to/from work yesterday through West LA and Beverly Hills, regular gas runs from $2.03 to $2.15 per gallon for self service. Even the Thrifty Gas was above $2 per gallon and they used to be cheaper by a noticeable margin. I even noticed everything had gone up a few pennies from morning to evening too. Hmmm, I wonder what Costco is charging now if I decide to wait in their lines? At least I am NOT driving one of these honking big trucks or SUVs like everyone else. :smackhead

$1.92 for 93 in Seattle.

$3 per gallon will happen by Memorial Day and inflation will follow. The biggest problem with high gas prices in this country as opposed to Europe are the distances goods must travel from ports.

All I know that I put way more miles on my vehicle than any of my family memebers that live in Italy, and yes they pay 4 dollars a gallon but don't even come close to the distances I have to trave for business. Not only driving but flying, your food, goods cost will all go up becuase, like Barman said the distances to bring you the product are far.

I have heard this arugement time after time - the big bad greedy oil companies. Yet, nobody complains when they buy a bottle of water for a buck. We live in good old US of A where free market reigns. Nobody tells Bill Gates that his next version of windows has to have a price cap except for the market it self. If you're so inclined to belive that the oil companies are getting rich, buy some stock and join them.

So, we are not in the hands of the oil companies or the opec or any of the above. We are in the hands of ourselves - supply vs. demand. This is called capitalism. For better for worse, it works better than socialism or communism.

Why am I defending the oil companies? I'm not. I just want people to be educated on the issues rather than just start ranting and raving without any facts. It's always easy to complain about the oil companies because they are so visible, but you need to get the facts stright and view them with non-biased opinion. Why isn't everybody protesting Evian for sellling water at higher price than gasoline? Again, when you do protest, try WALKING to your protest.

I totally understand what you are saying about bottle of water is a buck, but do you drink 20 gallons of water every 4 to 5 days? Just wondering. All I am saying that this ecomony where I live will not be able to make it if prices reach that high, because people aroung here don't make that kind of money. So ofcourse they will still drive around, but won't be buying or doing anything else. I was just wondering what everyone else felt about this.

what I want to know is why opec is cutting oil production by 1million barrels a day starting april 1st. with the busy summer driving season not far off, why would they cut production? i'm tired of heearing the lame excuses they always give....tribal wars in nigeria (or wherever it is in africa), oil ship sinking in some unknown waters, iraqi oil fires, blah blah blah.

by cuting the production there will more of a demand, and then the prices will go up. which in return the oil companys will make the same money

could also be the devaluation of the US dollar. Some rumors have been flying that OPEC will start demanding payment in euros or gold. Either way, fossil fuels are a finite source of energy. Honda and Toyota have been smart investing in hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles.

Hmmmm ... Higher gas prices. Could this be an OPEC / Middle East ploy to try and get G. W. Bush out of office? The timing is perfect.

Think you've got it bad, try living in Dallas! Every other vehicle is one of those landcruisers (Suburban, Tahoe, Expedition or the new Hummer H2). It sucks!

I think the oil companies would like to see Mr. Bush remain in the white house. If they keep prices low, he has a better chance.

The oil companies would *love* to see dubya stay in for another 4 years. He's been pandering to them ever since he got into office (and his texas oil background doesn't hurt either)

I concur with SUVs and those big trucks. Not only can they not park right, they suck up gas like its evian water. Remember the last time gas prices went up? All those deep discounts on the trucks and SUV in the name of patriotism? Ha! Give me a break. If you want patriotism, be considerate of your neighbors and buy a car that is sensible. That's not driving an excursion with one person tooting around the town getting groceries. I can just see another patriotic act coming on by the big 3.

I drive 50mi 1 way to work so I would be pretty much screwed. I traded in an SUV on my TL and am seeing a 10MPG jump but even then $3/gal would be a heap of cash. It may even result in my cancelling my pr0n channels on Dish Network

We are already paying over $3/gal in the great white north.High gas prices have absolutely no effect on peoples buying habits .The roads are full of suvs and big pig pickups. I think the only thing that would put a major damper on suv/pickup sales would be actual gas shortages.
